To my knowledge, it is good to have contacts to a museum.
There they usually expect you to be present during the mostly relatively short term exhibitions, but it has advantages, because the visitors are into communicating and showing you further on, if you are willing to.
And apart from that, there are several very nice artist in residence places in Japan!
I have been in one twice.
If you want your own exhibition in a museum, it may cost you quite something, but I have heard, that its worth it, as for the already mentioned visitors.
But you can also apply for several communal Galleries, which usually is free then and as much support, if you can add some lectures or workshops for example.
Maybe you let me know (pm, if you like), which museum you will be on, since I know some plus some people there.
As for the artist in residence places, I could sell enough to get my flight paid, but only on smaller price scales. Anyhow, it was worth it!
Greetings from another artist.
PS. Interesting artwork, thanks for your link!
