So after learning how to read hiragana, katakana, and some kanji I decided to learn Japanese by playing an rpg.

Of course I'm stumped instantly(which is why I'm here)

帝国の思うようにさせるか!

この娘を先頭にして突っこむザコにはかまうな.

Can someone translate and explain why it's translated the way it is?

I think you should start by using text books.
I would advice Genki.

I'm really just lost with the sentence structure(mainly particles)
and the meaning of those sentences are horribly distorted because of that.
この娘を先頭にして突っこむザコにはかまうな.
kono = this, musume = girl, sentou = first(to go first/lead etc.), tsukkomu(dictionary says - to go into deeply), zako = small fry, kamau = to be concerned with(says the dictionary).

and what I get out of this is.... Something about being concerned with small fries going deeply into this girl. See my problem yet?

I don't think it is a very good idea for beginners to use phrases and sentences from games... It is good to make your target or some kind of reward to motivate yourself, but I also recommend to get some text book until you get the basics. ;-)

Also you should understand that very often a word from one language does not mean exactly the same thing in another language, there tend to more more than one meaning when you look up the dictionaries.
And there are many different words which are pronounced in the same way - you can tell the difference from kanji.
Without understanding the basic particles, I assume it is very difficult to understand a complicated sentences like the above.

ザコ(雑魚) indeed means small fish, but this word is commonly used in figurative way, which means "nobody".
かまう(構う) can mean "to concern" - you can say かまわない when you want to say "it does not matter".
However, in this context かまう means to pay attention.
ざこにはかまうな here means "don't bother with nobodies" (just target at the boss/big one!)

つっこむ could mean "go deeply" or "put deeply" but in this sentence it means more like "storm/burst/plunge" into something, maybe the building where the enemies are hiding?

Advice such as "learn basics first" might sound rather boring, I know, but you can learn basics so that you can understand the phrases from games in the near future... :)

Haha, I was actually joking with my translation at the top.(I'm horrible but not that bad...)
But yeah, I'm Chinese, so I know full well that they have multiple meanings.
Also, as said in my second post, it's really just the particles that are confusing.(I've spent hours trying to memorize those little twits and I've obviously gotten nowhere)

Anyone want to help me figure out the other line?
帝国の思うようにさせるか!

Hence why learning a bit about Japanese grammar would be useful no?

I mean it is one thing to learn/know what individual words mean, but that is nothing unless you know how they are all put together and how meaning changes according to context.

As they said, start with the basics, learn the particles...they also have a meaning in the Japanese language.

Deepest sigh....

The major particles - Tae Kim's Japanese grammar guide
Verb-related particles - Tae Kim's Japanese grammar guide
Noun-related particles - Tae Kim's Japanese grammar guide
Japanese particles - Wikipedia
Japanese/Grammar/Basic Particles - Wikibooks, open books for an open world

If you really need help, I'd suggest you to explain which particle is confusing for you in the sentence and what you cannot understand, instead of just quoting the sentence alone.

No, I didn't waste his time. I'm saying I did a little bit worse than usual.
I definitely don't understand a single thing from the sentence.

Btw, thanks for the links.

I've actually been to Tae Kims but then I couldn't understand a thing from that site. wikibooks.org is much better, thanks again. =]

From the very first post, your quote is not accurate. The second line is not one complex sentence but two simple sentences. After a few seconds' search, I found that.

×この娘を先頭にして突っこむザコにはかまうな。
○この娘を先頭にして突っこむ。ザコにはかまうな。

While the former means "this girl" is the speaker's enemy with small fry following behind, the latter means (and the fact is) she is on the speaker's side in front of them.
