皆さん、こんにちは

I just had a little question about sentence order.
I know it can be changed around sometimes since there is particles, though.

Anyways.

So, say I wanted to say:

Aiko's father comes home late (from work) everyday.

Would it be like:

愛子さんのお父さんは遅く毎日(仕事から)うちに帰りま す。

Or

愛子さんのお父さんは毎日(仕事から)うちに遅く帰りま す。

Or is both good, or both wrong?

ありがとうございます

Woiuld it be like:
愛子さんのお父さんは遅く毎日(仕事から)うちに帰ります。
Or
愛子さんのお父さんは毎日(仕事から)うちに遅く帰ります。
Or is both good, or both wrong?
ありがとうございます
毎日遅く(家に)帰る。(毎日帰るのが遅いです)
毎日遅く帰宅する。

愛子さんのお父さんは遅く毎日(仕事から)うちに帰りま す。

Or

愛子さんのお父さんは毎日(仕事から)うちに遅く帰りま す。
The second one sounds better.

The farther away you get from the main verb, the more extraneous the information becomes. So the second sentence shows that the focus is on the fact that he comes home "late".

How about:

愛子さんのお父さんは、毎日深夜にうちに帰ります。
愛子さんのお父さんは、毎日夜遅く帰宅します。

The second one sounds better.

The farther away you get from the main verb, the more extraneous the information becomes. So the second sentence shows that the focus is on the fact that he comes home "late".

How about:

愛子さんのお父さんは、毎日深夜にうちに帰ります。
愛子さんのお父さんは、毎日夜遅く帰宅します。
"Every day in the evening" sounds a little strange to me at least. Maybe every night would be better ? And 毎日深夜 is literally very late -- like from 11 or 12 to early morning.

If that is what Tomii wanted to say. Also, more natural to drop いえ・うち since that is obviously implied.

毎日遅く(家に)帰る。(毎日帰るのが遅いです)
毎日遅く帰宅する。

thanks.

So, The first one makes sense.

"I return (home) late every day"
2nd one, like
"I'm late returning (home) everyday"?

and the 3rd
"I return home late every day."

okai, i think i get it. thanks~

diceke:

Thanks. I was just confused.

The translation is the same. There are just several ways of writing it.
You might have guessed at the のが pattern extending to 毎晩帰宅するのが遅いです。 also.

The way you originally had 家に遅く帰る is OK as well. I just hadn't heard it as much personally.

Or something with 夜遅く but that can get a bit tricky to work in with "every night"...
