Sentence help?

Hi,

I was not able to write down this new sentence structure from my lesson before it was taken of, and none of my friends are on to ask them
But its really annoying me that I cant work it out!

These are my notes of this grammar.

Do A befor B:

おふろ の まい に べんきょう を します。
Noun version

おふろ に まい に べんきょう を します。


Do C after B:
おふろ の あと に テレビ を 見ます。
Noun version

おふろ に はいった あと に テレビ を 見ます。
Past short form

I does not help that I don't know what おふろ means, I don't know if I have copied it down wrong. Also the noun version to the other version does not change, but the sentences seem to realte to this "タクシえき の まい に ビル は です。" its a bit similar. I get that this relates to the order of the things being related to, but that word I don't know has put me off.
Also what does あと mean and the same goes for はいった as well, not too sure on them either.

If someone could give me the direct translation for each of these sentences, and the words I'm having trouble with. It would really help me,

お風呂（おふろ）-- bath

まい is a mistake; it should be 前 (まえ), meaning "before."

後（あと）-- after

入った（はいった）from 入る（はいる）meaning "enter."

I'm pretty sure おふろに まえに べんきょうを します is grammatically wrong. The version with の is right. However, I get the sense that there should have been a はいる in there. In that case, おふろに はいる まえに べんきょうを する is perfectly legitimate.

The sentences mean (1) "I (will) study before my bath," (2) "I (will) study before I take a bath," (that's if it's supposed to have はいる in it), (3) "I (will) watch TV after my bath," (4) "I (will) watch TV after I've taken a bath."

ah thanks, まい was my mistake wasn't paying attention to what I was typing. I think the word for bath was really putting me off on this, thanks very much for your help!

What's the deal with the noun stuff, I think the second sentence in each section is meant to be the dictionary form.

I've always heard of あと taking で。 Is に acceptable as well? Does the meaning change?

後 can take any particle -- は、に、で、を、の or very often nothing.
In the case of おふろ の あと に テレビ を 見ます。 or おふろ に はいった あと に テレビ を 見ます、 あとで also sounds perfectly fine to me, perhaps slightly more emphasis on the sequence -- that television will only be watched AFTER taking a bath and closer to おふろにはいって、テレビ を 見ます。:?

What is the purpose of the はいった, in the two second sentences. So its meaning is close to 'enter', but what grammatical purpose does this have?

It's like the difference in English between saying "After a bath..." and "After taking a bath...", but in Japanese it's literally entering a bath.

Ah right I see, thanks very much!
Would there be any difference in the sentence if you changed bath to dinner, e.g. I have dinner before watching TV "ばんごはん を たべる に はいった まい に テレビ を みます。
You can't enter a meal, or am I reading too closely and this is just a grammatical querk!

The word order is wrong, and it's ばんごはん を たべる まえ に テレビ を みます (no need for はいった in this case).This would mean "I watch TV before having dinner", for what you asked, just invert the order "テレビ を みる まえ に ばんごはん をたべます。

Right, you can't enter the meal. The verb hairu in the above case was, like Takakoo said, used with bath. It's also used for other things, but you don't enter food.
