Round leaf made gate at local shrine.

Just saw this at my local shrine. Trying to search up the meaning of it myself but if anyone has some information it would be very helpful.

It's called 茅の輪くぐり "Chi no wa kuguri" (lit. passing through thatch ring); a festival for sound health. The following page explains about the origin of the festival (the right side "Story of Somin Shorai").
