Please may I ask for the following phrase/motto to be translated, preferably in traditional symbols?
It's a short statement of intent, for a motorcyclist to ride safely:

"I ride to live (to stay alive)".
Alternatively: "We ride to live."

"I must stay alert" (A motorcyclist staying alert to danger)

Do you want it to say something like "We ride safely"? Or "We ride safely to not get hurt"?
If you say "ride to live" it's meaning ambiguous (bu so is the original English).

Is your focus here about being careful? Or being watchful/awake?

What is the application? I'm guessing you're not using these for tattoos.
I'm wondering how closely you want it aligned with the English or how natural you want it to be in Japanese.

It's less ambiguous in English, as it's one half of "Live to Ride, Ride to Live".
Perhaps "I ride safely to survive (or stay alive)" would be good.

Yes, but also watchful - in a state of readiness - not allowing oneself to be distracted.
These aren't for tattoos, but possibly for decals on my bike
 
生きるために走る、走るために生きる = Direct translation of "Live to ride, ride to live"

安全運転 = Safe riding/driving

"I ride safely to survive" could be translated as 命を大事にして、安全運転しています or any number of ways to translate it, but its a bit redundant.
安全運転 (safe driving) is a short, commonly used, 4-letter set phrase that would serve your purposes.
 
Thank you Majestic, so 安全運転 can refer to riding in any form (for example riding a horse, or a bicycle, or a motorbike)? Or is it just related to driving motor vehicles on roads? I like it's succinctness!

How about changing it slightly to "I must ride safely"? Is that much different in translation?

安全 is safety/safely, and 運転 is specifically for operating a machine, so it could be a car or a motorcycle, but not a horse. It's universally understood and widely used, and seen all over the place in Japan. I have a bumper sticker that says it. This is probably what you should use.

The imperative forms are more of varied grammar point, and have a lot of different ways you can write it. What are you planning to do with these phrases? the context will really drive what translation suits the situation best.

A person running fast is called 韋駄天(Idaten) in Japan.

In Japan, the term for safe driving is "交通安全(traffic safety)"
A sticker of "交通安全" is put on the Japanese car and motorcycle.
 
My level of Japanese isn't up to the other contributors but the four-kanji 安全運動 nails it, and Majestic's literal translation also sounds good as well as being correct according to Japanese Mrs Lothor.

oh, yes I forgot about 交通安全, that might actually be what my bumper sticker says... yup! lol


@Hiroyuki Nagashima is 仏恥義理 like ateji? where does that term come from? I love learning about new slang haha. Funny how there's a lot of buddhist reference, like in 韋駄天

@Lothor, did you mean 安全運転？ I'd expect to see 安全運動 on a sign at my gym or something
