It's a good start to plan to increase the amount of female managers, although I think 2020 is still quit far away, and am looking forward to seeing other companies do the same. What's your opinion about this matter? Do you think it's fine the way it is, should there be more female within the managing positions? etc.

It also brings the question, is it possible for female to take a year maternity leave here in Japan and how would their position be after they started working again?

I agree with you. I hope that more women will be fairly appointed to important posts according to their ability.
Companies shouldn't avoid to do that because of worries about marriage or pregnancy. Instead, they should establish the systems to employ women after child-care leave.

By the way, I'm a student, so afraid that I can't know about the situations of a company in the real world.
But, Resona says in the official website that they permit the staff to take holiday until the child become 1years and 1month.(according to the situation, permitted until 2years and 1month)
Then, they have introduced the system for employment of women after child-care leave. They hold seminars before they come back to Resona in order to give business information which has changed during their holiday and to help their adaptation. Actually,in 2009, 66women participated in the seminar.
