My life was depressing when I tried to fit in at school. I listened to that heavy metal crap but I didn't like it so I was outcasted from that clique. Then I tried the emo scene and they just hated me. Then I tried to fit in with my fellow geeks and we got into arguments about ati being better then nvidia and that didn't go well. About 4 months ago I started walking around by myself. I didn't try to get any friends or do anything like that. I would entertain myself by posting on message boards and becoming a regular on some IRC networks! I also bought 5-6 books a month and read them a few times each. I use to watch alot of anime before I started to isolate myself. I would download the common episode of Full Metal Alchemist when it came out but that's about it. I didn't rave about it like I use to. Now I'm getting back into anime which has been fun lately. I bought a Ghost in the Shell t-shirt a few weeks ago and a couple of Ghost in the Shell DVDS. It's a great anime.
So my fellow loners and outcasts of society. How is your life and what do you do to spend your time.

Ohh.. another fellow loner/outcast of society :-) I guess I'm not alone after all 🙂 Hows my life? Its pretty much the same since I was a kid. All alone. You'll get used to it after sometimes I guess. How do I spend my time, usually its wake up->school -> home -> eat -> sleep (repeat 5 times/week) on weekends sleep->sleep->eat->sleep or watch anime->watch j-drama->buy new game->download MMORPG->read manga (no sleep in this mode). :D
Its pretty much the same since I first entered University. Just the first year always the most exciting one. After that, it became stale. 😌 At night (either weekdays or not) when I'm not lazy, I'll ride my motorcycle all around the city until morning. (seldom, since most of the time I'm lazy) :D In short, the only thing I have in my life is my computer+internet, my university and my dream 😊
*looks at age* 16.. you're still young. You're still able to get out of this pit you know. Get out before its too late :D

come on Thor, your not a loner...you think you are but your not. ^_^ You must have friends wondering around school waiting for you right? As for you Rio Lee.....is that all you did before college?? Wake up go to school, come home and eat then go back to sleep? O_o

well.. technically yea :D I didnt put the 'going to the bathroom' and the description of it for sake of the innocent people here in the forum, and few minutes of internet surfing and wobbling around the house aimlessly while bothering my housemate in the toilet :D .But yea, thats my routine from monday through friday of my everyday life. Nowdays its more like just school -> sleep, since this is my last semester(tons of weird projects) . No time to eat and socializing but of course I have no social life to begin with so socializing doesnt count :D

How to spice up your life?

Two words:

Hookers and gigolos. For added fun, combine hookers and gigolos with gambling and substance abuse. Good times guaranteed!

Just kidding. 😌

I do not espouse gambling, paying for sex, or rampant drug use.

:joyful:

Seriously, it can be weary being alone, but those times are also the best times to grow as an individual. Take advantage of that.

Don't ever try to fit in. It kills your individuality and creativity.

I agree 100%. I know this sounds really really cliché, but you're still pretty young and looking for yourself. I used to be really really shy when I was younger and I still am but I'm not as shy anymore. When I was 15 or 16 I decided to change my school so I could detach myself form the old environment and it was the best thing I ever did. I was able to have a fresh start, I didn't have to see the same people anymore and I met my best friend after changing schools and we're still friends ^-^ After that I realised that I can be creative, too, and learned to appreciate my oddly working mind for what it is ^-^; I guess I went through the normal phases you do when you're in your teens (including hair dying and clothes 😄 ) but even after I changed schools I still never really fitted in anywhere. The thing is that after the changing, I didn't even try to and went on happily doing my own thing. Of course I can't always be myself because you have to compromise when you interact with other people, but the important thing is to remember that you're always you inside no matter what other people tell you. If you can be yourself with someone, then you know you've found a really good friend.

I know you hear this everywhere, too, but if you want changes you need to make them yourself. It seems really difficult but when you just do it instead of thinking abotu how horrible it could be, you might get a lot more as a result (for better or worse) than you ever can by sitting in your room. Go somewhere no one knows you so they really can't judge you by thinking "Oh that's the guy from school..." Do something you like. It also helps writing things down. It's not just writing a diary or whatever, it's writing down thoughts so you can understand them better yourself. I don't even like the concept of a diary because it somehow makes me feel like you have to write there every day... Just keep a small book book you can write your thoughts in - for yourself.

Thumbs up for you for making this post 👍

hehe.....Rio Lee, you say you do still have dreams ? Try to find something you really love, behind sex, gambling and drugs, and passionately pour yourself into anything related to that would be my motto. Friends will flow more naturally as an aftereffect, as they sense your more positive energy, activity level and upbeat mood. :-). Anyway, finding something outside myself is what saved me from isolation and low self-confidence....I'm not saying it's guaranteed to work for everyone.

Let Me Be Your Perfect Example......

of how you will end up if you don't get out among people! You could end up a 54 year old crazy guy like me. Sitting at the PC each night praying for someone to talk to in chat or searching posts for something interesting. Better get out and make your spot in the world, or it will pass you by!

Uncle Frank

😊

Why do you call yourself Uncle Frank...

because he's our uncle Frank.

You know, that nice old dude that shows you how to put the worm on the hook just like he taught your dad.. the guy that always asks you if you want a beer even if you're 13. The guy that teaches you a few jabs so you wont be the kid they push around on the playground... then when you come home with a bleeding nose to your mom, he's the one that goes "what?.. I didn't tell him anything.. WHAT? *under his breath*can't let the kid become a p***y like his old man*/under his breath*"

I'm going to call him Bob if you all call him Uncle Frank. :-)

No, You'll Confuse Me !!

My Uncle is (was-dead now) Bob!

"UNCLE" Frank

:p  😊

You can't because there is "Bob in Iowa" who is also very wise, so it will be too confusing if you called Frank "Bob". :-)

I reject society sometimes, when I get tired of people. I don't get depressed from doing it, though; I think everybody needs a break from being around people all the time.

You, madam, are correct. I will now buy you a congratulatory drink!

😌 👍

Did you ever notice how all the great writers are also alcoholics?

Thanks for finishing my thought, Mac!

Heh, I swear, I wasn't drinking.....

:p

Work is the curse of the drinking classes.
Oscar Wilde

My Grandmother is over eighty and still doesn't need glasses. Drinks right out of the bottle.
Henny Youngman

If you drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
Dean Martin

When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Well, I think someone who stays at home on New Year's Eve is...well...definitely not into socializing that much... :p

Or maybe I'm just old? ☝

Nah, I've always been kind of a loner. Too many people irritate me. That's why I did most of my Christmas shopping online this year. People, in general, have no respect and get on my nerves.
