I was just wondering if anyone doesn't mind me asking a few questions time to time......

ill start it off with.....
close = soba???
(the meaning of close is like my work hours. example. 8-close how would i put that in 日本語?)

(I use to know this one, but it did rhyme with "Lets go")

Cold marrow and endless darkness there aren't actual words, but I guess you could use them for a name. reiketu refers to the animals as well, just like in English.

閉店時間 is "closing time", so an example sentence would be:

The store's closing time is 8:00.
お店の閉店時間は８時です。
O-mise no heiten jikan wa hachi-ji desu.

As for the other words, here's another example:
The store "Doinks R Us" closes at 8:00.
「Doinks R Us」という店は８時に閉店します／閉めます。
"Doinks R Us" to iu mise wa hachi-ji ni heiten shimasu/shimemasu.
You can use either "heiten shimasu" or "shimemasu" in this sentence.

There are no abbreviations of these words, and 閉 is never used on its own but is only used in compound words or at the beginning of verbs relating to closing something, like shimeru, heiten suru, tojiru, etc.

How are you?=お元気ですか？ (Ogenki desu ka?)
the reply is 「はい、元気です。」 (Hai, genki desu.)
「お元気ですか」isn't quite as commonly used as "How are you?" is in English, though.

Obviously, you are right. But I took yami's sentence as meaning that Joe was being vague over whether or not he hit sara or not, not that he wasn't sure that he did.

For Joe to be vague over his answer, whilst knowing that he did hit sara I would have him say: (and this is only a guess, I'm not sure at all)

刀（かたな） specifically refers to katana, and 剣（けん or つるぎ） refers to other kinds of swords.

Have you ever seen "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"? "Green Destiny" is referred to as 碧銘剣 and 剣 in the subtitles.

I'm almost certain that in the Japanese dubbed version of the Taiwanese TV series, it was referred to as a 剣（つるぎ）。

It's a play on 一刀斎 and 抜刀斎, the first being an actual swordsman of the bakumatsu era, I believe, and the second a fictional swordsman of the bakumatsu.

taiyou no katana is the name of or description of a sword. nihontou is the name of a type of sword.
