I've seen it a lot lately and I really don't understand what it means. I guess it's the katakana part's fault...

''random name'' がグレずに育ったなあ

Anybody knows?

That's not fault/mistake but a usage of katakana for emphasis (similar to bolt or italic in alphabet).

Look up ぐれる in your dictionary.
Have you seen an expression ～ずに? It's the same as ～ないで.
