Questions to western men living in japan and married with japanese women??

Hello anyone,
My questions will go to western men living in japan and married with japanese women??!!!
Well I am a white caucasian french man aged 40, wishing to live in japan and marry a japanese woman, I have been and lived in total of 5 months in the years 1982,1985,1996. My girl firend comes from an average town near Nagoya but she is not originally from the countryside,
- What should I be aware of?? society in general, family,
- What are the do's and the don't's??
- What are the best advices you could give to make it smooth and jump many barriers; like by emmigration department??
- What kind of jobs and how to apply to have a chance of any interview??
- Please give me all your opinions and advices!!!!

I exchanged a PM with him. If he wishes to share my advice here, I don't mind. I don't really deal with many private messages anyways, and the issue at hand is not a necessarily private matter for me; in fact I would welcome comments, additions and corrections to any advice I have to give, since all of my knowledge of international marriage in Japan is second or third-hand.

Best advice is when a woman starts talking marriage run, run fast, run far away. It doesn't matter what her nationality. Run run run....
