Questions about G30 University in Japan

I posted this in the main forum but I think this might be a better place for it. So feel free to take down other one if it's not supposed to be there.

I'm 23 and considering applying for one of the G30 Univrersities in Japan. It seems like a very cost effective way to both study and experience life in Japan, something I've wanted to do for a long time. I just have a few questions to anyone who's been through the process or has information.

1.What are the chances to be admitted? My high school grades were not good due to personal matters (I did graduate though : )

2.What are the chances of getting scholarships? Tuition would be about 5700$ canadian a year and living costs (accomodation, food etc) would be about 1000$ per month. If i were to tutor english part time, lets say 10 hours a week, that would cover my living expenses each month, so I'm left with the tuition to pay for. If I didn't get a scholarship the first year, but had outstanding grades, would the chances be high of me getting on the second year?

3. Are there student loans available for foreigners? I think I would only need about 20 to $25,000 in loans for the 4 years, which I think is pretty good considering I know people with nearly $50k

Ask the admissions department of the university(ies) you're thinking of applying to. These things can vary a lot, not just by university but depending on course. Since the G30 universities are trying to get foreign students in, it is in their best interests to give you the information you need.

Ask about fee waivers/scholarships, including scholarships from other sources outside the university, also part time working permission (not awarded automatically), and financial requirements for the student visa (how much money you need to show you have in advance so that immigration lets you in).

For scholarships, look locally as well in case there are Canadian charities/organisations which support overseas study (may be a smaller amount of money but every little helps).
