The average life expectancy of the purpose Okinawa man becomes best among the whole country from 1980 through 85, and the image of "healthy longevity prefecture" colonized, but I make a sudden drop afterwards and am the 36th place in the life table for latest 2,015 years. I determined Okinawa in the prewar days, and, not long Shou County, the longevity of the Okinawa man was the phenomenon that 35-40 years were temporary as for becoming it after the war. In other words, I hypothesized, "a postwar survival rate might be good as a big generation of the sacrifice by the war" and, as the cause, inspected a selective survival hypothesis by the Battle of Okinawa of 1945 using before the war postwar population statistics and life table.
I estimate a relative survival rate before and after the Battle of Okinawa according to birth coHort than a national census carried out in method prewar days and postwar period by the Ryukyu government and a life table and evaluate the correlation with the postwar standardized death rate (SMR) according to coHort.
After comparing the postwar standardized death rate with the relative survival rate before and after the Battle of Okinawa for each birth co-Hort about result Okinawa man, a positive correlation (R2 = 0.34) was seen. In other words, the tendency that a postwar standardized death rate was low (= death rate is low) was seen before and after the Battle of Okinawa as the generation that was low (sacrifice by = war is big) of the relative survival rate. Such positive correlation was not seen about the woman.
As a generation with much sacrifice by the conclusion war, a low tendency was seen in the postwar death rate of people who survived. It is thought that so-called "selective selection" that the Battle of Okinawa is a severe battle for more than three months, and only a person having strong vitality can live acted. It is not influence of the eating habits and the lifestyle that the average life expectancy of the Okinawa man became the whole country 1 temporarily after the war for 35-40 years, and it is thought that it was a temporary effect by the Battle of Okinawa.
