Anyone know any easy to follow instructions for "origami"? My little boy keeps harping me to make him a giraff or an elephant ect, and the instructions make you so frustrated it is not funny, I end spending hours trying to figure out which way to fold. I am just looking for any web sites that have easy to follow instruction that won't have you pulling your own teeth out to stop the pain from frustration the instructions cause when buying sets from 100yen shops?

My first thoughts on origami where , how hard could it be? Boy was I wrong!

Try this site. It shows you how to fold some not-too-complicated models using video clips.
I've just tried the Leopard Seal and it came out OK.

Not to sound like a smart-aleck here...but have you browsed your neighborhood bookstore?

They usually have something cool, often including a pack of pretty colored paper to get you started.

A Thousand Cranes

Like any other Japanese art, the Way of the Folding Paper requires an understanding of the basics. So you will have to prepare yourself to fold a thousand cranes,

or maybe at least until you can make one that looks reasonably presentable. After that, a giraffe, or tiger, even pikachuu should be within your grasp.

I have books, but they are just too hard to follow. The wife gives up on them and palms them off to me and I can do no better.

Yes I do , but they never turn out how it is suppossed to.

I once had to fold an origami rose for work. I found that if you make your folds very sharp by going over them with a ruler or something makes the finished project much better.

OMG, I tried to make origami flowers today. It's our first wedding anniversary on Sunday, but I can't really afford to buy anything much, but since the first one is meant to be 'paper' I thought it would be cool if I could make my partner a load of origami flowers.

Now, I am crap at origami. Seriously crap. I struggle to follow the instructions for kids, never mind the complicated ones! Some of the diagrams don't seem too clear to me. @_@ Never mind... today I made a lotus flower and a lily... it's hard to tell with just old scrap paper but I think the lotus looks better (and I can do it without many problems), but really I want to make a chrysanthemum, but I can't find any good instructions. @_@ Does anyone know of a simple way to make an origami chrysant?!

I don't know of any "simple" way, but have you checked out this video?



I haven't folded origami in decades but remember that you need to fold and match the corners very neatly from the start to make flowers like this. Hope it helps!
