Please read: Regarding downloads

That's because the entertainment gallery sucks major holes and often takes entirely too long for photos to be "approved" and what not, it's so much easier with free hosting sites.

Thanks for proving my point. If you have any ideas on how to improve the gallery, please feel free to share with us. We appreciate your constructive feedback.

Was my post rude? Should I have said something more civilized than "sucks major holes", lol ...sorry. Anyway, the gallery takes too long for approval, and that's its major problem. There's a certain instant gratficiation that one gets from just upping a picture and immediately posting it and not having to wait hours (or days even) to post a picture, especially when the subject of the forum where you were posting the picture may have changed by then. So, improve the gallery by making it instant, or close to that, and that's about the only way to get people to stop posting huge pictures from free-web hosting services.

I have a suggestion. I've just been to visit the gallery, and there is a box for 'comment' under the pictures, when you click on them. Is it possible to make comments 'nested', so that a discussion can effectively take place under a picture? People like to talk about pictures, which can be done easily in threads but less easily in the gallery.

Also, the gallery isn't subdivided into different subjects - so for example, if you wanted to talk about 'Dir en grey pictures' it's not possible to do that without commenting on individual Dir en grey pics that people have uploaded, which isn't practical for a discussion.

Thanks for your suggestion. However, for obvious reasons it is impossible ATM to allow instant uploads. While I do believe that the majority of our users is mature enough not to abuse the gallery, there is always a minority that won't comply to any ToS. However, I will think about a solution for that.

Well, the comments are just that ... comments. They are strictly linear. Anyhow, discussion should take place right at the forum. However, the gallery could be used as pic storage you could directly link to. In case we rearrange the entertainment gallery to suit the JPop community's needs we might of course add new categories.

anyway, I dont understand why people have to post 100 pictures on one page anyway.... it just looks like junior high school sometimes if you ask me!!

Ah, I didn't think of it like that, I see now what you are saying. :)

I think it's rather sad that people seem to 'grow out' of liking to look at pictures. :(

yes, it is but on the other hand posting pictures and comment on them can be rather amussing when done properly :-)

What about concert clips. Not dvds, but clips recorded by fans. Also, technically most pictures are copyrighted. I forgot which band it was, but some band got mad seeing parts of their OHPs used as avatars and layouts on LJ and fansites... therefore I assume that's not ok as well. Even tabs are... I read that on a site I used to get bass tabs from. They shut down cause it's not an official representation of the music... there could be errors.
Say I wanted to post a link to a site that is affiliated with a band that has samples of the bands music and they have that's band permission to put those samples up. That is ok... correct? :?
It's just so hard to know... sometimes the line between what is legal and illegal can be fuzzy. How can one be always sure? I actually knew of this rule and forgot... now I feel bad. 😌
