Please move this if I have posted in the wrong area. But it is related to learning the language, so hopefully it is ok here.

I'm learning by reading books and listening to some CDs. I do practice speaking when I can, especially along with CDs, but it's just not the same as a conversation and having to think quickly and really communicate.

I live in the UK and don't know anyone else learning Japanese. I'm aware that one of the best ways to get speaking with people is to use Skype etc. I may resort to that, but I'm not a big fan. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any ideas for finding people who may want to meet up occasionally to practice? I'd love to actually speak face-to-face in Japanese with someone. I'm not very good yet and it's early days, but I can already tell that real vocal communication would make a big difference over writing only.

Any tips for finding people to chat with?
