Pearl Harbour, Tourist Attrection For Japanese

If I went to Hawaii, and visited Pearl Harbour memorial site.
Would I see many Japanese tourist visiting the site.

Is "Pearl Harbour", a must see for Japanese tourist to Hawaii ?

A LOT of Japanese visit PH everyday!! Almost everyone I know that comes to Hawaii that is a Japanese tourist visits PH. I have only been to PH once but when I was there most of the Japanese I saw had lei's and or flowers and seemed to be praying for the dead soldiers. I guess it's a kind of apology.

I guess it's the same as "us" going to the Peace Park in Nagasaki.

The site of one of America's biggest military blunders would be quite an attraction.

Many Japanese like visitting Hawaii, and I think a good few lived there even before world war 2....could be wrong though.

I'm with Punch of the Mighty Gaijin here, I cant think of anyone who goes to Hawaii who doesnt at least try and make time for a stop-off at PH.

It's a bit eerie, my wife said there were a lot of spirits there on the Arizona. I didn't see any though. Well worth seeing, though the security is a bit strict. No bags allowed; backpacks, purses, you name it.

Indeed, quite a few. Even only there two years, I met quite a few 3rd & 4th generation. I played poker w/ one guy that was 3rd generation, but he was quite a few years older than me. I'd he's around 50... that puts his parents here before the war, and his grandparents definitely.

I don't want to turn this into any sort of debate on the ethics of war, but I would hardly say that a sneak attack perpetrated a mere 30 minutes after negotions were suddenly broken off with the US might be considered a "military blunder" for the United States.

Hindsight tells you that there were a lot of things that could have prevented more casualties, or could have repelled the attack more effectively, but the information just wasn't there, and when it was there it was too late.

Kinda off topic, on my honeymoon we went to Hiroshima and the peace museum and my wife wouldn't go in. Had been before with a school trip. I suppose once is enough. She said take my time, which I did. A highlight of the trip...Agree with leonmarino's comment.
