Parents of foreigners residing in Japan

If I come to japan on a work visa, what is the possibility of bringing over my parents who are over the age of 60?

As tourists, they are welcome. How else did you imagine they would come? You certainly couldn't sponsor a work visa for them.

You might want to check with your embassy, too. Some countries require that people get letters of invitation before they can come, even as tourists. I don't know about India, so I suggest you look into it.

I plan to be in Japn for about 2-3 years but a tourist visa will allow for a visit of only 3 months or so. Is there any other way?

No, I don't believe so, unless they get jobs here. How long did you hope they could stay?

I don't know the answer, but you might be able to get them to be able to go with you if you can establish to the Ministry of Justice that your parents are your dependants.

I would check the immigration's webpage for information on dependant visas.

I was hoping that they could join me for the entire 2-3 years that I plan to spent in Japan.

Any idea if a 62 year old can get employment in Japan? What is the age of retirement and does it matter? I ask this as in the US a person can work even after retirement.
