Crime Pakistani brothers suspected in attempted export of stolen vehicles

Kanagawa Prefectural Police arrested two Pakistani brothers last week on suspicion of submitting false declarations to customs authorities and attempting to export two stolen Toyota vehicles, according to a report by Jiji Press dated 16 July. Naseebullah, 38, director of the car export company Idrees Trading, and his younger brother Nakibullah, 36, were taken into custody on suspicion of violating the Customs Act.

Investigators allege that on 31 January, the pair filed a false customs application at Yokohama Customs to export two stolen cars — collectively valued at approximately 9.3 million yen — to the United Arab Emirates. Nakibullah is employed by his elder brother's firm, Idrees Trading, which operates out of Namegata City in Ibaraki Prefecture.

According to police, the incident was discovered on February 18 when customs officials notified them that vehicles different from those listed on the application documents had been loaded into a container. When the cars were examined, it was discovered that a Lexus had been stolen from a private home in Kyoto City between the end of last year and the beginning of this year. As well, there was a Crown that had been stolen from a parking lot in Yokohama City. Prefectural police are investigating how the suspects obtained the cars.
