Hi everyone!

I want to write the word pain. When I went for information finding how it is written in Japanese this is what I found 痛み. As I understand there's 2 variations for the word pain. First is in Kanji 痛 and another in Katakana み. Or does those two symbols make up the word?

P.S. I'm very sorry... I was reckless. There's another topic for translations...

The み is what's called "okurigana". Many words are composed of a kanji with kana that follow it (or rather, perhaps we should say that when we write the word いたみ we can write いた+み where いた can be in kanji).

In this case there's a verb, 痛む which means "to hurt", and 痛み is a noun form of the same verb.

So I need to write both symbols. I would like tu write them vertical. As I know Japanese writes in "backwards"? You write from right to left etc. So J need to do from botom to top? Kana on botom and that kanji at top?

Ohh, I misunderstood than. I guess their books are just the other way? They start reading from the "end".

So I simply type those 2 symbols. I can do it vertical right, I guess it's not another myth or sth like that...

You can write horizontally left-to-right (just as you would with English text) - this is common online because most webpages aren't set up to handle vertical writing.

Or you can write vertically right-to-left, in columns (columns of text are top-to-bottom, first column is the one on the furthest right). Most books are written this way.

so:

(in a few cases you may also see horizontal right-to-left)

start reading from the "end"

No, you still read from the beginning. The beginning happens to be in a different place depending on which language you're reading, that's all.
