Options Page: Block New Posts List

Thanks to finding my list of new posts flooded with things from the China Forum, a thing I'm not interested in but which has had little enough traffic that I didn't mind seeing the new posts listed, I want to block that particular section of the site from listing up when I get new posts.

I looked and looked and looked on the options list, and couldn't find "China Forum" listed there. Is it there and I just missed it? If it isn't there, could someone please put it there so I can block it? I don't mind if folks interested in various aspects of China have a place here, not at all, I'm just personally not interested in the slightest.

Well, I know someone has seen it...but I just don't know who. I can see who has posted by clicking on the number-of-posts number, but not with the number-of-views number...so...

I'm sorry, I can't help out here...it'll have to be someone else. Hopefully they'll come along soon enough--if you haven't gotten any PMs yet.

I take it Number 1 is still out pedalling around? I can wait until he gets back and has a chance to take a look into it. It's nothing urgent.

It's been asked before....if memory serves, the hangup was something about a technical infeasibility.


Block feature not working

Hi Mike, sorry about the late reply. You need to select "Other Fora" listed in the textfield of subfora to be excluded. Let me know if that works for you.

I tried that and it didn't seem to work. But as I think about it now, I probably just hit the back button on my browser without bothering to refresh. I'll try it again, thanks.

My question is..."why did it happen now?" Was there a recent upgrade or something? I had other fora checked before and now all of a sudden I'm being attacked...by China!

Other fora, whatever it was set up for, didn't block Eupedia posts for me and isn't doing it with China now.

The China 'onslaught' I think is due to one or two occasional posters and isn't worth taking terribly seriously....for now at least.

No, unfortunately I can't. I'm afraid our users will have to face the peril of occasional posts related to China.

Yea looks like the China forum bomber struck once and went away. Not really something to worry about if you ask me. Could've happened in any one of the fora, really.

Block new posts feature gone alltogether?

I thought, that I would use this thread as it seems to deal with sort of the same topic.

I changed the skin of the forum as I thought, that the gray quotes became a bit difficult to read after the update of the board.

Now my list of new posts is full of stuff, that I don't really care for. And the option to block certain forums from my new posts list seems to be gone alltogether, no matter, which theme I use. I could not find the feature any more. I probably shouldn't have touched it...

Would it be very difficult to bring the feature back, please?

I have the same question/request as nanook.
There used to be an option in "My Settings" to choose from which forums one wants to get "new post" information but now it's gone.
Could you please bring it back if possible?

The plugin is enabled, but does not seem to show up since the upgrade. I will look into this issue. Sorry for any inconvenience!

Update: the option should be fully operational now. Please let me know if there are any issues.

To those who want to use this function:

Go to "My Settings" on the top left of the page, then click the "Edit Options" under "Settings & Options" from the list on the left, then you'll find "Exclude Forums from "Get New Posts" " at the very bottom of the page.

You should have been here back in the day when a search for new posts on Jref brought up not only posts on the Japan forum and the China forum, but for Eupedia (the Europe forum) as well!
