Could the US fall into another civil war?

I'm serious. In my life I've never seen people so politically polarized here as they are now. Whipped into an anti-Obama, anti-government frenzy by right-wing radio and TV, some "conservatives" are actually talking about armed revolt.

The new "Tea Bag party" is growing daily. Some folks in attendance at their political rallies are openly carrying rifles and handguns. Supposedly, these weapons are empty. But safe gun-handling practices include, as the first rule: "Always treat every gun as if it's loaded." So these people must be viewed as running around in an angry mob with loaded weapons, regardless of what they claim.

In Michigan, the FBI just rounded up a bunch of self-styled "militia" members who were on the verge of assasinating police officers, just to gain attention for their cause. And we worry about Middle Eastern terrorists? We'd better look to our own first.

Wow, over a health care bill? Totally ridiculous. It is called, go to the polls, vote them all out of office, impeachment etc.. there is absolutely no need for an armed revolt. Totally ludicrous.
If anybody tries to start an armed revolt they and their group should be tried for treason.

Most Americans are still reasonable people. The media isn't reporting anything new, they are just sensationalizing the small minority of extremists who have always been out there.

Remember Tim McVeigh and David Koresh? They predate Glenn Beck and the Tea Party.

Political polarization is cyclical, similar to the economy. We're just in a low spot right now; things will improve.

I wondered about this too sometimes to be honest. I agree though, the media is in large part to blame for hyping up crap to an extreme based on emotional and often baseless (and sometimes fraudulent) claims by political interests or networks (Fox anyone?)

Those who were in power were not happy when they lost it... at least to some degree they lost it, I can't say that things are exactly going the way promises stated they would.

You are right RolandtheHeadless,i noticed that several times ago.
Also,some political people expect the US be divided into two,One in the north and one in the south,Republican & Democrats..
There are many extremists groups appeared lately...!

But yet the US still is very strong,the system is strong,If anything happend this time to the US the world won't be safe,at least until another power shown up in the world exepting Russia and China the worst system.
So i think it's too early to speak about this ^^

Too much truth in those words, Hezam.

If the US falls into civil war (which I really don't think is likely), the Israelis will have to learn to look out for themselves. Then they might discover the value of negotiating with neighbors.
