Hello kind experts,
Can anyone help me understanding the markings on some porcelain my mother own, so I can find more info about the porcelain?

Base: 九谷 (Kutani ware - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )

Not sure on the side - it could be some sort of signature (even something like 山仁, written vertically?).

Yes, but what does the Japanese text say on both pictures?

You already got the answer. The one on the base is 九谷[Kutani] and the side would be some sort of signature(probably the name of a person, factory, brand or something). The signature "Kutani" doesn't guarantee that it's really Kutani ware, though.
