Need help with Firefox kanji extension

I posted a message earlier, and in a reply I had firefox at the time. He also said it would display any hiragana for kanji. I need this BADLY. i Still cant figure out how many strokes a kanji has, and therefore cannot look it up.

I love helping out people on the playstation forums, trying to translate it, but sometimes I can't. Just because I can't figure out the kanji! The only way for me is to manually search for its root, which can take forever. For some reason JWPce always seems to get the root wrong.

I know the particle kara (from) but I can' t look up the kanji.

I heard there was a firefox program you can download that is called moji or something like that where you just hover your mouse over the kanji and it will give you the hiragana. This would be a huge benefit!

Also, as someone said earlier, you know on my old windows 98 I saw the black bars on japanese yahoo chat? Well, those went away but I still got the question marks.

However, on my moms XP, and even on my new super fast XP, DHTML and Java both do not work and thus I cannot use japanese chat.

I wonder why it won't work?

One person said to upgrade to XP and that's solve the problem, but it's even worse now.

Alright folks, I installed it twice, but I guess I'm doing something wrong and cant get it to work on firefox. I hover over a kanji and nothing happens.

afaik, moji doesn't work that way. Once you open the moji sidebar (alt+m), you can select kanji and hit "word" on the sidebar to see the meaning. It's more like having an easily accessible dictionary in your browser. If there is a program that lets you do something like that, chances are it wouldn't work on a site that uses flash (like the one you linked to)

I'm not sure about characters not displaying correctly, I'd guess it'd be a problem with the page encoding. Have you tried going to view>character encoding and selecting either Unicode UTF-8 or one of the Japanese options.

That's because it's displayed with Flash. moji and rikaichan don't work when the kanji is displayed in Flash.

Donkies, do you know of an easy way to figure out how many strokes a kanji has without copying and pasting it?
