Need help with extended sentences.

I got more here, wrote this letter to my friend.
She had some back pains last week so I wanted to check up on her.

ヨシエさんは気が良くなった？
元気ですか。 お母さんとお父さんは元気?
家族に私のよろしくを上げて下さい。
Disney Landはどうでしたか。
楽しみでした? 楽しかったを望みます。

(These expressions are not common in Japanese, so I had a ton of trouble with them. But it should be a good approximatation.)

ヨシエは帰ったときカラオケに行きましょう。


それは楽しそうと思います。 今日私と彼女は子供のこな事を見つけます。

It implies to me like the "no" makes it into more of a specific place you have in mind and without it becomes just a general Akihabara store, but I'm not really sure either. :sorry:

「楽しかったので (or You de) 良かった」とか「楽しくてよかった」なら、It was good because it was fun. みたいな意味で使いますよ。

By the way, though, for some reason I think these (or maybe others) are used much more than the ones above.

Ok This is has been driving me nuts since I was trying to answer Elizabeth's question in the need a phrase translated thread.
彼女が私のロマンスの試みを誤解しませんけと思いません。
Here the second part of my answer was:
I don't know if she likes being embraced by me or if she just likes being warm.
このとどう言うの分かんない。
私の試み：
彼女は私から抱きしめた、暖かくなったのが好きを知らない。

彼女は好きなのは、暖かくなるからしかないか、抱きしめられたいかがわかりません。

It's a complex sentence and I'm better at reading Japanese that writing it.

Romansu no tameshi (attempts at romance) wa nihongo de wa arimasenne. "Ki ga aru" is closest to feelings of attraction or liking someone, but I can't tell even now -- do you like her or is this a true misunderstanding ?

Didn't you say she was surprised and jumped up at your move in the theatre ? Or you're wanting to imply she may have secretly appreciated it ?

I'm not sure of an exact translation, but maybe something like these.....?

彼女が 暖められてくれただかが好きだったのか？
Did she just like being warmed ?

または、抱きしめられたかったのかわかりません。

Or did she want to be embraced, I can't tell.

Well she said she was happy that I held her and she jumped up b/c her foot got cramped. Yes I do like her, but it's a tough situation to explain. But I don't know if she was happy I was holding her was she happy cause was not cold anymore.

So that is basically what I wanted to say in japanese.

Hello all. I'm Naoto from Florida (not originally). I happened to find this forum and thought I would help some. I am very impressed your Japanese. I bet you all have been studying Japanese for years. I see lots of Kanji's, too! It took some time for me to correct those sentences because I had to copy and paste Japanese letters. (anyone know a program to type in Japanese? I would need it for my online tutoring, which I will start soon.)

こんにちわ is acceptable today but should be こんにちは


ヨシエさんは気が良くなった？ --> ヨシエさんは元気になりましたか？ Avoid a too casual expression because you said "こんにちは" already. Keep the consistency of your politeness.

お母さんとお父さんは元気? --> お母さんとお父さんは (お)元気ですか? お can be omitted, but its better to have.


家族に私のよろしくを上げて下さい。--> 家族のかたに 宜しくお伝え下さい

楽しみでした? --> 楽しかったですか?

楽しかったを望みます。 Japanese people usually do not say "I hope..." in person, usually in writing.

My best shot for this would be きっと楽しかった事と思います。 It is not a literal translation, but that is the best way to say "I hope...". "きっと" means "I am sure" or "I bet". *きっと makes the sentece souds complete instead of 楽しかった事と思います only.


そして --> ところで そして means "and". If you are trying to change the subject here, use ところで. It works like "by the way".


秋葉原の店でマイクを買っています。--> 秋葉原にある店で マイクが買えます。

If you say 秋葉原の店, it may be taken that you specified this particular store. (did you mean so?) If you meant a store in Akihabara, it should be 秋葉原にある店. By the way, if I translate either 秋葉原にある店 or 秋葉原の店 into English, it is enough to be "a store in Akihabara". English is simpler, eh?

多分、ROX'ｓが持っています。--> 多分、ROX'ｓはそれがあるでしょう。 (acceptable)

"あるでしょう" means there is. Since you mentioned "買えます", it's better to use it here again.

I would say, 多分、ROX'ｓで買えるでしょう *You do not have to say それ for a mic because I used 買えるでしょう.


ヨシエは帰ったときカ ラオケをしましょう。--> "ヨシエさん" *The level of your politeness should be consistent.

ヨシエさんが帰ったときには カラオケをしましょう。


それは楽しそうと思います。 今日私と彼女は子供のこ な事を見つけます
(sorry I didn't understand this part. I could not see the relationship to the sentences above and below.)

昨日は友達と映画を見るに行きました。--> 昨日私は友達と映画を見に行きました。


私達はBatman Beginsを見た。--> 私達はBatman Beginsを見ました。 Or BatmanBe ginsという映画を見ました。

*The latter one is better because its better to avoid saying "私達は". Remember, Japanese people almost always omit either 私は or 私達は. (Especially when 2 sentences have be "more connected" to each other in order to flow more smoothly.)


すごく長かったけど面白かった。--> すごく長かったけど面白かったです *The level of your politeness should be consistent.


ヨシエはさいきん新 しいな映画を見たか。--> ヨシエさんは さいきん新しい映画を見ましたか *The level of your politeness should be consistent.

私はＸＰを使っているので、そうやってセットアップし ました。

Isn't カラオケをする more like youthspeak but カラオケに行く still proper Japanese ?

若い人でよく[何何する。。。。などと使う人がいますが、その使い方はあまり正しくないの かもしれないね。
 
It is commonly said and proper. Not all words (nouns) are used with ~をする. For the case of カラオケ, it sounds ok to me. (or at least it became so commonly "misused" ,and now it is either acceptable or considered correct)

On the other hand, it is possible for カラオケに行く to be inproper because カラオケ is something you do. For example, we do not say 野球 に行く。 野球をしに行く or 野球を見に行く is correct. カラオケに行く probably should be カラオケをしに行く

HOWEVER, I think almost all Japanese will agree カラオケに行く is proper. We also say 映画に行く。 Again, it probably should be 映画をに見行く。

How about, "タバコをする。"？ It is very commonly used though it may sound wrong. Honestly, I can not say what is proper in those expressions at all. What might have been proper is not so or even "wrong" today. Japanese language is so old that lots of things have been changed. Unless you want to "master" Japanese grammar, there is no need for you (and me) to know all the details in this. I wouldn't dare.



Here is another examples that you will see/hear commonly.

パソコンをする。 (I do personal computer) NOT "I use a PC". You know why?
 
It was just an example of something, as a learner, that I'd been corrected on. Similar perhaps to "Let's do lunch" or "We did a movie/play/game" etc in place of go out for and made in English -- although those may be a bit more established. It all depends on your audience and the kind of people you're hanging out with I suppose.
 
I was taught that it is ok to use ~する when stating something your doing. that does not have a said verb. 例えばカラオケとビリヤードとゲームです。

Do you mean it doesn't have a proper verb because you're not actually going to karaoke, you're going to the karaoke box ? In any case, it still safely takes ni iku....
