Is there a register of common Japanese rebus monograms out there? There's one particular monogram that i come across often but fail to figure out the meaning behind it. It is a 上 under a (人屋根 radical)
My best guess is it is somehow related to soy sauce manufacturer Yamasa, since their monogram also comprises 上 and , but in a different configuration and with extra サ.
Here is a representation drawn by me.
the one used by 山組 has a gap in it's 人 and 上's last stroke is connected to 人's legs.
But searching for 有限会社山上 returned good results. And i found the company in question. 小田原蒲鉾 山上蒲鉾店オンラインショッピング
No wonder i mostly see it at norens of ramen diners.
Thank you for the hint, Mike.
