Need help deciphering name of old friend

Greetings!

I've started looking for an old friend who I met in Japan when I lived there as a boy back in 1996-1997. For now, I need help figuring out what his name was.

We called him "Katcha", but that obviously wasn't his real name.

He once gave me a note with his name written on it and someone translated this note for us back then. The person who translated it for us (a Japanese woman) wrote that the name was "Hiroyuki Matsuda". However, looking at this note now, I can't seem to make sense of that. I can't read Japanese, but it seems like the given name is something else than Hiroyuki...?

I'm hoping someone here can help me figure this out.

MATSUDA Hiroyuki or Katsuyuki, could be either. If his nickname was Katchya, I'm inclined to think his actual given name was Katsuya, and that Katcha was just a shortened or form.

It's not impossible to read the first kanji of the given name 活 as "Hiro", but it's extremely rare. Also, it's common to use only the first letter of the name for the nick name. In fact, I have friends やっちゃん "Yatchan" for 泰弘(Yasuhiro) or さあちゃん "Saachan" for 貞彦(Sadahiko). I think the reading Katsuyuki is the most possible one.
