I have a question about the usage of について in the following sentence. To me it seems that simply writing に would be enough, and について looks a bit odd here...

数が足るないなら、増やせばいい。あらゆる家畜について我々が行ってきたことですわ。

Yeah, the meaning is almost the same as に there. ついて gives a nuance of "concerning". (Incidentally, に対して has the similar function. It gives a nuance of "toward" to に.)

～ておく means "to do previously for a purpose".

The causative imperative of "to live", as in the original.

I don't how how すら is used here. It seems to be ''even'', but I don't know how to translate it.
''...is becoming the destructive power to even the thing they must protect'' (?)

"A power that was created to protect something, has become a power that destroys even the things it's supposed to protect."

すら puts emphasis on how much the power has transformed/been misused. It transformed so much that even the things that should be protected by it are destroyed by it.

I'm a bit unsure about last 2 sentences. Is it correct to write them like this -「リァノーンを連れ去ろうとするウピエルを阻むには、一の太刀で決めねば敗北も同然だ。」? But what is the point of 否 there? The answer to 勝てるかどうか? But in this case maybe the next part,「一の太刀で決めねば敗北も同然だ。」 refers to it too?

愚かにもつかない雑兵と、かつては鼻で嗤っていたギーラッハだったが・・・・・・
今となっては、この程度の雑魚にも勝てるかどうか。
ウピエル：「あばよ」
ギーラッハ：「ウピエル！」
否、一の太刀で決めねば敗北も同然だ。

Context: While ウピエル is taking リァノーン away, ギーラッハ is fighting with 雑兵.

Yes, it's an inversion. 否 is not just "no", but more likely いや、そうではない. He is saying that the point is not just to win but to win by a single slash of the sword.
