Need a word or phrase translated?

Yes, I would like the translation in katakana but, I'd like to keep the flavor of the Japanese language so, a literal English-speaking translation is not what I am looking for. A Japanese equivalent of the phrase would be preferred and, if katakana is not the best form for such a phrase, I am open to suggestions. Essentially, I'd like the translation to be as close to the "norm" of an everyday Japanese-speaking (or in this case writing) man/woman.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond. I have used this site in the past for similar inquiries and, I am always impressed with the polite and informative responses.

Hey I'm new^^ yoroshiku onegaishimasu! What does semeru mean? Semete means at least but I don't get semeru>_<
 
Indeed, the adverb せめて[semete] is derived from the -te form of a verb 責める[semeru], which originally means "to press a person to do". The meaning changed; eagerly/obsessively --> very/extremely --> at least(with an expression of "to hope" or "to need"). Thus, you can't use "semete" in the context like as "He has at least three smartphones."
 
I'm confused 青い空 and 青空. Are they both mean the same, or there are some rules when you use one of them?
 
Hello, I was a bit confused by this sentence and would just like to know if my translation is correct (it sounds kind of off to me).
If not, what specifically seems to be the problem?

嘘付いても気付かれてないって思ってるのが馬鹿みたいで好きだ
I love that you don't realize that I'm lying and look like a fool.

The subjects of 嘘（を）付く, 気付かれてないって思ってる, 馬鹿みたい are all "you."

That's not 気付いてない but the PASSIVE 気付かれてない.;-)

Hello! A friend of mine asked to know the character for "Eskimo" (as in, an indigenous person of the circumpolar region). He would like to have a necklace made for his half-Japanese wife that recognizes his old nickname for her (part of an inside joke). I'm guessing "Eskimo" won't work for his purpose, because there's only katakana for it. Is that true?
 
Yes, that's right. There's no kanji for Eskimo in Japanese.

1. 結婚式のスピーチは短ければ 短いほどいいです。
2. 小川よねさんは元気な方ですね。
・・・ええ。年を取れば 取るほど元気になりますね。

Hello, while reading a manga I came across this sentence :
的を射ている。
But the furigana used for 射 was え instead of い.
So my question is : is this some sort of colloquialism, irregularities, a pun, or a gikun (though I've never seen a gikun for a verb)?

There are two idioms 的を得る and 的を射る. Both are considered correct, or at least acceptable nowadays. (In fact, the two idioms are both listed in dictionaries.) However, 的を得る is read まとをえるand 的を射る is まとをいる. 的を射る is NEVER read まとをえる. That's just the author's confusion of the two words, I suppose.

"What do you want to be called?" is correct. The subject of 呼ばれたい is "you(= the addressee)".

Ahh, thank you! If it was to be 'what do you want it to be called' rather than 'you', what would be said?
