Actually 思いっきり is from 思い切り, but it's basically used only as an adverb unlike the original 思い切り, as Noraemon-san wrote. So it doesn't have a nuance of "resignation"- 思い切りがいい/思い切りよく. :emoji_wink:Let go, cut loose, resignation というような意味も含まれているようでしたから。。。

Go ahead, take a wild guess. :emoji_blush:What is the Japanese word for slightly Caucasian-looking, is there any definition in Japan for people who look vaguely " European " ?

この機会を逃すわけにはいかん。
what does いかん mean in this case?
せっかく敵が一箇所に集まってくれたのだ。この機会を逃すわけにはいかん。

Exactly いかない is the equivalent of いかん in modern Japanese. But actually that's the n-euphonic change of the archaic auxiliary verb ぬ.It is a contraction of いかない.
友達に聞いたら、買うことが出来るかも知れないいい本を(について)言う(教える)(の)でしょう。Hey everyone
I was e-mailing my penpal yesterday, and I sent the e-mail, but then I was thinking about one of the sentences I wrote, which was:
友達に聞ければ、買うことを考えるいい本について言えるだろう。
It's supposed to say something like "Perhaps if you ask one of your friends, they can tell you about some good books that you can consider buying."
I'm not sure if the whole sentence is correct, but that's not the point of this post (however, I'd also appriciate if anyone could correct the sentence to make it sound better if it's wrong/sounds weird.)
My question about the ~について言う~, because I don't know if that even makes sense. I was trying to say "...tell (you) about ...", but I had a feeling that I should've used a different word/particle other than について. Is there a better word to use, or is について fine?

そんな卑怯な真似はせん!(せ; the imperfective form of the archaic verb す + ん)
そんな卑怯な真似はしない!(し; the imperfective/pre-nai form of the (auxiliary) verb する + ない)
We don't say そんな卑怯な真似はしん!;-)

I think either について・を is very acceptable. Do you want to say 'a book' or 'about a book'? Although I think について話す (talk to you about) is probably more common than について言う. Was that part of the confusion ??
ぬ/ん is from ず.so ない = ん = ぬ ? and ず as well? why there are so many ways of negating a verb!?
言ってくれる/教えてくれる would be more appropriate for that. 買うかもしれない本について教える/言う could be misinterpreted that the penpal is the subject, thus, "s/he can tell someone about the book."友達に聞ければ、買うことを考えるいい本について言えるだろう。
Oh, right. Better than 友達に聞いたら、その人は。。。、へえ??言ってくれる/教えてくれる would be more appropriate for that. 買うかもしれない本について教える/言う could be misinterpreted that the penpal is the subject, thus, "s/he can tell someone about the book."
考える doesn't imply may or might, but "will consider."Hey everyone

Yeah, I was thinking about what こなれた日本語 for that was, too.And 買うことが出来るかもしれない I think is perfect, but let me know any substitute phrases for to mean "you may want to consider buying" ??
The kind of book you will probably try to buy...ってことでしょう?Yeah, I was thinking about what こなれた日本語 for that was, too.買おうと思えるような本?
