I'm trying to find the right word for "check" as in "can you check this for me (and tell me if it's right)?" I think my ex-girlfriend just used チェック, but she used all kinds of English words in places that felt weird to me (and often left me more confused than if she had just used a Japanese word), so I feel iffy about using it. Would これが正しいか（どうか）点検してくれる？ work, or is 点検 too formal or just not the right word? これが正しいか（どうか）確かめてくれる？ seems like it should be OK, but I'm not sure. Help?

これ正しいか確認してくれる？
これ正しいか見てくれる？
All of the above sound good to me.

I guess you can also use あってるか instead of 正しいか.

My bad. Tashikameru is equally OK too. I thought I typed tashikameru. It turned out I was using kakunin instead. It must be my habit. Could it have been because kakunin is shorter than tashikameru?

Well, in English dreamer doesn't necessarily have a negative meaning, and indeed one of the examples listed on the translation website shows how it can be a positive thing. However, I don't want it to be an insulting sort of thing to be put on a pendant!

What about 正夢? Or this one, though I'm not sure if this can be read as a Japanese character 做梦?

正夢 is not appropriate in this case. The direct translation 做梦(夢) does not make sense in Japanese. It would be a verb phrase like 夢を見る. 有梦想 would be 夢を抱く。If you meant 梦 by the latter one, I think ロマンチスト could work.
 

I checked my 中日辞典 and it also has a metaphorical meaning for 做夢:
実現不可能なことを考える。幻を見る。空想する。

I'm guessing that this is pretty much the same connotation as 夢想家, especially given the 空想する part of it (and I guess 幻を見る probably doesn't have a positive connotation either). Is that right?
 
Would この曲、作りが下手糞で耳障りだ be good for "this song sucks so much I can't stand to hear it?" Actually, I was just wondering how to say "this song sucks," and I'm guessing 作りが下手糞だ is the way to go, then I got a little carried away. What about 聞くに堪えない? Could I use that to say "I can't stand to hear it?" Or 聞いてたまらない?

Hmm... now that I think about it do you have to get specific with the part of the song you don't like, or would 作り cover it all? よろしくお願いします。

How about.... この曲ダサすぎて聞いてられない（いられない）。or この曲まじ(本当に）つまんね～～！ 聞いてられない 。

I thought ダサい was a somewhat aged slang expression but I see it still being used quite a lot by young people.
 
Ah, ださい. By the way, is mine too stiff? Feels like it compared to ださい. And I'm a bit troubled that I didn't think of something as simple as 聞いてられない. つまんねえ isn't quite what the song I was thinking of is, although there certainly are those out there.

This is exactly the image that dreamer has in English. Whether its taken positively or negatively depends on how that kind of person is viewed under and relates to the context.

"You may say that I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one" being an archetypal example...
 

If you mean by "This song sucks." something specific about the song, then it would be necessary to say exactly what it is that sucks. If you are talking about the music/melody/harmony of the song, you can be a bit more descriptive as to why it is 耳障り.

Is it the composer's poor songwriting skills?
この人（作曲家）曲作りの力ない... / この曲センス悪い....

Is it the sound production?
音作りがなってない... / アレンジがうざい....

I thought what you had was perfectly fine. My examples were translations of "This song sucks" without going into any specific reasons.

So if the answer is "yes, I'm single"....if translated into Japanese it will be "Hai, watashi wa dokusin desu", right??

If married the answer will be... "iye, watashi wa kekkon desu."....
 
Close. If you single: Hai, dokushin desu.

If you are married, the best answer is: Hai, dokushin desu.

The technically correct answer would be: Iie, kekkon shiteimasu.

You're reading School Days, right? 原巳浜 （Haramihama） is the name of a fictional train station.

I know this is not really a translation question, but I really don't want to open a new topic for this: Does it mean anything when there's two extra strokes added to へ in the beginning of letters? Or is it only supposed to look, I don't know, cute or something?
