Look "all right" up in an English dictionary. It has at least 6-7 translations into Japanese probably starting with "fine/good" （いい、よい、よろしい）。
 
Thanks for the help, but I was already fairly confident on the definition--I was watching 花より男子 the other day and the word came up a couple times, plus from the kanji the meaning is pretty clear. What I was wondering was if the word had any use outside of simple phrases like 'look who's talking,' or 'you telling me not to be late--isn't that the pot calling the kettle black'?

On a link on your link, @orochi , there was an example sentence like 'those who witness abuse but do nothing are no better than the perpetrators.' So, I guess it can be used in that way too...

漢語 just means "Chinese word". In Japanese, this refers to words created by using the kanji imported from China: 勉強、高速道路, etc etc.

The "opposite" of 漢語 is 和語, which means "Japanese word". These would be words "made in Japan". 山、川、桜

Then you've got 外来語, or foreign loanwords. These are words imported from countries besides China. They're usually written in katakana. コンピューター, バイト, etc.

1) 同様に Is this primarily a written word, or would it sound ok if I use it in normal speech? (ie. the blah blah blah. 同様に blah blah. construction)

2) めっちゃ What does this word mean exactly? Same as 超 or totemo? Does it function as a な adjective?

3) 品格 This was on last night's episode of 英語でしゃべらないと。 They kept mentioning it but I wasn't really paying enough attention and didn't get a good definition down. My dictionary says 'style,' but is it more akin to 'grace'? Is it a word in common usage?

Also, does anyone else find the host of that show's voiceovers that transition from one コーナー to the next quite bizarre? I find the show entertaining on the whole and decently informative, but those short bits are read really quickly in very unnatural English (yet the guy is a native speaker). Bit confusing.

I usually see this in writing. In the spoken language, you'd probably say 同じように or something similar.

Yeah, pretty much the same as とても. めっちゃ うれしい or whatnot.
I've never seen it with a な after it. Use it just like とても and you should be good to go.

Eijiro lists a few definitions: grace, dignity, class. Definitely in common use. And recently made popular by the book 女性の品格.


As for the voiceovers on 英語でしゃべらないと... I agree that some of the writing is bad. The reason lies in one of two places. Either the scripts are written by non-native speakers or they are written by native speakers who are poor writers. Either are likely knowing Japan.

I've heard it in normal speech but not a lot, like orochi said.

It isn't always the case, but the feeling can come across as more negative for めっちゃ I think. More like "too much," "excessive" or "extreme". Just my opinion and I don't have time to explain more.

Not really used a lot in normal conversation. There are more common terms for all the synonyms mentioned above.

You could just point at something and say: 'Kore (o) kudasai' (This please) or replace 'Kore' with the name of the dish or product.

Interesting. I wonder if it's a regional issue. Where I lived in Mie there was no negative connotation to it at all. It was just the regional form for とても. Where did you hear it as negative? I'm curious.

Keep in mind that there is more than one way to say all of these.

More of what? If you want a refill on drinks, then:
おかわりお願いします。

If you mean "sell" by "offer", then: ここはどんな店ですか？

やりましょう/やってみましょう

何食べますか？/何食べたい？

>What is the soup/meal of the day? (resto)
If the restaurant even offers this, then it will probably be displayed prominently on the menu somewhere. But if you have to ask:
(soup) 本日のスープは何ですか？
(meal) This one is going to vary wildly depending on the type of restaurant, but something like 本日の日替わり定食はなんですか？

If you remove the last "?" (and add "。"), it's perfect.

もう少しください。(↓on a down note)
or
もう少しいただけますか？(↑on an up note)

The latter is much more polite,
like "Please pass me the salt." vs "Could you pass me the salt, please?"
