I can't tell what the character in that picture is supposed to be. I've got 犭, what looks like ﾅｽM, and ﾅ禿ｷ. I'm not sure what the other part is supposed to be, and I don't know of any character that combines those. Neither does Jim Breen's WWWJDIC.

As to "perseverance", I second Glenn.
As for the photo, it looks as if someone who does not know kanji well mixed up two kanji 窶禿塚? into one...

Jordhan, if you really want tats in kanji, you should visit this site to avoid awful mistakes. I'm sure you do not want something awful or something makes you a laughingstock on your skin permanently...

It's hard to say without context, but 決心 and 決意 may be close. I suppose 覚悟 could even be used, if you mean a readiness to face danger and unpleasantness to achieve your goals. I know Ichigo (from Bleach) used it (a lot) when he hit that point in the battle where he had to face his fears and really throw himself into the fight in the earlier episodes.

Wow, I couldn't get that out of it, but that would at least make some sort of sense.

Yes, but it can be interpreted as "ninja" or "shinobi" as well.

I don't know the context or clear meaning, but it says "electrical system plague."

Maybe a virus? I don't know what the alert is for, so I can't tell you.

You think "plague"? I was going to say some error occurred in the electrical system.

Hmm. That might work. It's an "abnormal outbreak" -- which I learned once as "plague" -- but I don't know exactly what it might be. I've not worked with Japanese electronics, and don't know what kinds of warnings or alerts they produce for what kinds of problems they encounter. I was thinking something in the "hit with a virus" mode.

A virus is certainly plausible, but I suppose it could be a problem that arose from something like overheating, even. Then again, I'm no computer whiz.

発生 I've always understood as "occur". Perhaps "an anomaly has occurred in the electronic system" would be good.

Just run across this mega Kanji character and was curious to know what it meant (I counted 34 strokes, is that right?).

Wow, that's quite interesting, I also wonder what it could mean!

I tried to find it but couldn't...
The closest one I found is
靈
which is the old kanji for
霊
only the upper part matches...

I need help to write "Father of peace" in Kanji. The meaning of Axel is Father of peace, and that is what I need in Kanji. Are the some way to write "Father of peace" in Kanji??
The reason I am looking for this is because I want to make me a tattoo with the name of my son.

It should be 平和の父（へいわのちち）. I hope it can help.help.

Hi all,

I'm sorry to come on here with a mission but I don't know what else to do. I'm currently practicing as a resident in a Soto (slightly Rinzai) Zen Monastery. I was given a koan by one of my teachers and I was hoping to get it translated into Kanji. This is the koan.

Throughout boundless space, between self and other, not a hair can be inserted.

Any help is appreciated!

I'd like to ask, if there is some difference between kanji for zodiac dragon and kanji for ordinary dragon? www(space-sorry, cant post URLs).orientaloutpost.com/tattoo/dragontattoo.gif I know this kanji, but I've seen it used also for horoscope dragon and I'd like to know symbol for ordinary western dragon with four legs, wings, fire-breath and so on ) And also which kanji is the right one for bull (this time I mean zodiac bull )

There is no kanji for western dragons. That's ドラゴン. 龍・竜 is the more commonly used kanji for eastern dragons, with 辰 being used for the horoscope/zodiac/干支.

The horoscope/zodiac/干支 bull is 丑.

EDIT: just now I found that 丑 is kanji for both male and female, so they are both written the same?
Because when I was speaking about zodiac bull, I meant bull in european horoscope and there we speak about male

The kanji for Taurus is 牡牛.
If "zodiac/horoscope dragon" is meant as the constellation Draco, the kanji is 竜, although it's often written in hiragana りゅう.

Quick question.....i think each of you knows the kanji for 'mother' (haha, 母)
When I saw it today I thought: "Hey, why not practice your look-up skills and try to find it?" So I took out my iPod (The app is called: Kotoba) and tried both, the search method using radicals and the SKIP method....i tried to find it for 35min....and couldn't!
then I used the site of Jim Breen.....also the multi-radical method.....nothing
could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? If one day I really have to find a kanji quickly I'm doomed xD can anyone tell me the radicals? I know it's got 5 strokes and I know what the radicals should be.....too bad they don't exist >.<

The radical of 母 is 毋[ぶ], the lower part of 毎. Probably the application/site can't display it.

EDIT:
I found WWWJDIC shows the radical/element correctly.;-)

Hi, I was wondering if any one could help me translate the text on the right side of this image:

I think it is this: 力タルシス , but I'm not too sure because it is handwritten and I very well may be reading it incorrectly. And when I tried to use a translator I was told it said something like ? tharsis force? and I kind of suspect that this isn't correct
