Multi-Quote This Message?

What is Multi-Quote This Message? I'm pretty sure I know what it means, but I don't know how it works. I want to reply to a post, quoting various parts, and putting my reply between each part. That's probably what this function does, right? But I'm not sure how it works. When I click on it, it just toggles a little checkmark and the rest of the functionality appears the same (e.g., using "reply with quote" afterwards seems to work the same). Thanks.

Use "Reply" instead of "Reply with quote"
