Moved by the pictures taken by Tom

Would anyone help me?

I'm wondering if the following sentences sound natural to native speakers.

(1a) Many people were moved by the pictures taken by Tom for the school festival.

(2a) I was moved by the the play performed by the drama club.

I think you can say (1b) and (2b).

(1b) Many people were moved by the pictures (that) Tom took for the school festival.

(2b) I was moved by the the play (that) the drama club performed.

1a and 2a are correct but they sound rather long to me. I would be more likely to use 1b and 2b myself.

1a and 2a are allowable but awkward, 1b and 2b are much more natural. I can't really say why that is though. Maybe it's because the first half of the sentence is passive, it seems better that the thing that is doing the action in the first half ( the play, the pictures) is expressed in an active way? Stringing two passive clauses together requires a bit more concentration to follow the meaning.

I think many people have already answered your question, however I'd have to say that they all sound pretty good. except 2a, there was an extra "The" added. Either than that you have a pretty good understanding of the English language and I'd encourage you to learn it!

As you mentioned, I typed "the" twice by mistake, but I'm not sure how I should do to correct it.
