What is in your opinion the 5-10 most often used (and thus most important) verbs in japanese language ?

The most important verb in any language is 食べる taberu - to eat!!

Does する count as a verb? I think that's a very important one to master..

taberu
suru
desu!
nomiru? - is that right?
nemeru (Is nemeru 'to sleep'?)

You need to be things, to eat, to do things, to drink, and to sleep after going out at night, drinking, doing things, eating and trying to be someone

I personally believe that Arigotou and Gomen are two very important words you must use.

They are asking for verbs though.
Taberu 食べる To eat
Suru する To do (action)
Nomu 飲む To drink
Neru 寝る To sleep
Iku 行く To go
Kuru 来る To come
Tsukau 使う To use
Kaeru 帰る To return (home)
Iru (very needed) いる to exist (living objects people animals etc)
Aru (Also needed) ある to exist (non living, cars, buildings, books etc)
Iu 言う To say
Hanasu 話す To speak/talk
Shiru 知る To know or be familiar with. (Person or topic)
Wakaru 分かる To understand

That should keep you going for a bit.

。。。

見る To see, to look at
聞く To ask, listen or hear
書く To write
出る・出す To go out /put out
読む To read
成る To become
持つ To possess

Well, maybe 20 of the most important....Most used ? That would be ある、する。。。買う (to buy)
