Sorry, it really does have 2 Ls.
I've signed up with a couple of agencies, who send me on jobs now & then, but that one big fish has always eluded me.

I've decided to get serious about this and wish to embark on a a voyage of personal discovery ah no, sorry, an intensive regime of healthy eating and exercise. I don't need to be completely ripped, just light toning I guess?

2 questions here: Am I actually wasting my time, the industry being overpopulated with wannabes etc?
and if not, what steps would you take in terms of personal physical development?

an overview: Male, 48 years old, 6'2", 75kg. Pretty much zero alcohol intake, drink plenty of water, omnivore, ride around 60km/week, no other serious exercise routine. Given limited finances, I'd be happy with a set of routines that could be achieved at home, rather than the expense of a gym, though some local koens have pull-up bars etc that could come in handy.

I think you should consider consulting with a Personal Trainer at least initially so that they can guide you on how to create a personal regimen that suits your modeling (both are correct - one "l" for US; two for British) and fitness goals. They may be able to also offer you some tips on setting up goals and getting you motivated. I've used Personal Trainers in the past and have found them invaluable. It does cost money in the beginning but it is worth it because they show you the correct ways of exercising, dieting and building tone/muscle.

Here's a listing of Trainers (who I assume speak English in Japan):
FitnessJp.com is for sale | HugeDomains

If price is a concern, maybe taking up jogging/running or biking as those are great ways to define tone.
