I love itoshii hito! But the downside is that there's the part where he really starts to sing, and he's all moving choppily and it just makes me think of The Ring and other similar creepy movies of dead people... o.o;;~ And yes... it is a bit confusing... I just really want to see a high resolution version of the video so I can take a good look at the baby he's holding. (I've only been seeing it on youtube so far) I also see a comparison between the baby in his arms and the children running around him... yeah. *possibly overanalyzing??*~

Besides, we focus more on the lyrics than the video~ The lyrics are so obvious... I'd rather stray from that one at the moment~

Shannon... I just don't like that video~ I don't see the reference to the song~ People say he's a "mother" figure in the video and what not... but there's that ONE SHOT AT THE END~ To me it kills the "miscarriage" perpesctive~ I think there's a lot more behind the video than such a simplistic observation~

Naturally, I have the video in decent quality~ When you get your internet working I'll send it to you~ The baby he's holding is just a doll... so there's not much to compare >>~

Yeah...considering Itoshi Hito lyrics, I'm definitely thinking Miyavi was supposed to be a mother figure in the video. The song is really hard for me to interpret, so I'm not even gonna bother.

Ive always been confused about itoshi hito
But someone said about a story about a daughter and mother
and the daughter got turned into an owl, because it was noctual neiter of them saw each other
but that just TOTALLY confused me more than I tohught possible

And I am very ashamed, because at first I disliked Meevs a LOT TToTT

I dunno about his videos being on crack ENTIRELY (though I do think it helps...? XD)~ I always feel like there's some sort of meaning to what he's put together... but I bet he likes to have his meanings ambiguous because then we're forced to analyze it ourselves. I know if I were an artist, that's what I'd do...~

I was quite pleased when I discovered that deh Myv is older than me by a few years (unlike a certain hot DBSK member who is the same age as my brother...)~

@malys... yeah I knew it was a doll of course.. but I wasn't sure if it was just a dirty doll, or if it was meant to look mishapen (thus the miscarriage rumor)... but then again, youtube can make anything look mishapen... .__.; *shakes fist @ youtube*~

hm... I want to confess too.. firstly I thought that Miyavi is scary and I didn't like him a lot I thought "how could anybody like that guy?" but when I watched few videos on youtube I thought "oh my gosh he's so kakoii" :D and now... I'm a fan!!! :D yeah and I thought that he was a lot younger... though all of J artists look a lot younger than they are :D
 
I first heard of him in that junction between Miyabi and Miyavi back in 2002. I didn't bother looking him up because at the time I was all "ZMOG DIR EN GREY IS THE MOST AWESOMEST THING EVAAAH! @.@"... not that they aren't, but they were all I focused on back then ^^;;;;;~ I think I've said it before, but this was the first picture of him I saw. It was a side bar at Japanese Channel, I think it's still there too. Anyway, that picture stuck with me because... well look at it, it's awesome. So when I finally looked him up back in August I was like "Is it Miyabi or Miyavi, I've seen both >>;;;;;;;;;;" Since "Miyavi" gave me more search results, I went with that XD!!!~~

There's a download site I go to... I won't post it here cause... yeah, already have an infraction for that... (:eek: ), but they had Miyavi's Kimi ni Negai wo video for download and I jumped on it, kik~ Then I found the Selfish Love LFX performance on YouTube... and that's when I knew I was sooo very far gone.~

Shannon-baby, the doll was rather dark, I assumed it was dirty... mishapen though, no. It looked like a normal baby doll.~ You also have to think about how much say Miyavi actually HAS in making the videos. I'm sure most of it goes to the director.~ I don't know much when it comes to idol vs. artist, but that's the biggest tragedy with an idol... their word means nothing. I always assumed an artist would have more say-so, but I don't know HOW MUCH more say-so... If that makes sense.~

Yes, but that hot DBSK member is also the same age as me =D~
And why does speaking of DBSK make me want to listen to Hanamuke by w-inds. TToTT?! Blast their addicting emo-ness.~~~

Anyway... I first saw miyavi on youtube in a fanvideo (it was mostly footage from his Pop Is Dead PV). I had to stare for a good minute before I discovered it was a guy... and then I went crazy into my research cuz he's so hot... and then I discovered his music rocks my socks... and then I was lost forever in deh world of myv...~

And I know we've talked about this before already, but oh well XD~

you guys are slacking btw!!! Look at this!! No one is posting here now! =O Three posts prior to this one, is MY post from YESTERDAY! I remember having to read like two pages per 24 hrs! (granted I had stopped posting after a while myself, but... still... yeah... *hides*)~
 
hmm.. I thought Itoshii Hito was a very good video. To be honest I never really think about trying to "figure out" what it's about really. More so I just look at it and accept it just as it is as a great piece of art. Trying to define some art is like trying to define "love". It's not definable .. it just... is.

Well said, although...As everyone has their own definition of "love" -- it would also be the same for art -- in this case, Miyavi's PVs. It's not that they're defining his videos, per se, just forming their own interpretation of it based on their thoughts, past experiences and what have you.

Anyways...

I'm no good at interpreting videos...so I won't even bother.

However -- I was looking through the Nov 2006 Shoxx [the one featuring LM.C!] and saw Miyavi near the end! I looked up the scan online instead of scanning my own [...since they're already on the net...no point in me scanning more!].

And just what is wrong with a bit of speculation? I may not enjoy the man's egotistical fawning over himself but hey, if there's some hidden meaning in that, why not talk about it?

If you're dumb enough to think that he's just making the video because of some poetic whim in his dainty little heart then you, my dear, are fantastically deluded.

Most "artists" fancy themselves one and do try for a bit of symbolism so it's not exactly just horrible speculation to wonder what's going on. It helps a person appreciate the artist more and connect to them on a deeper level. But hey~! I'm probably just thinking too much and it IS just pretty sounds and images coming from your computer and nothing more on a good substantial level that most competent human beings strive for. 🙂

espically miyavi videos.
my question to you is why would you deprive ourself of soemthing like that?
i am going o be a film major in a matter of months, and i wish to be a cinematographer...which is a job that is responsible for putting all the stuff you dont notice in films that evoke so much emotion into you. and i've studied film and cinematography for a long time. plus, i am a photographer. so its not like im pulling this stuff out of my butt. and i'm not bragging. im just saying. listen to what i have to say on this topic. i might make some sence.

miyavi is an artist. an artists sole purpose is to make you THINK. that is why hey do what they do. they wish to leave a mark on the world doing what completes them. that is what miayvi is doing in his videos. he is trying to make you think. thats what his songs are about as well. and when you add the two together. its just amazing what he can do. and i am not just saying this as a fan of him, im saying it as a person who loves film more than she loves DBSK which my angels can verify..is a boat load.
see. you can't take miyavi for face value. if we did. we would all think he is some egotistical ***** who just wants attention. and is on massive amounts of drugs and alcohol...at all times.
now, we know this is far from the truth. infact, we also know he cant hold his alcohol. so why on earth would you think a man who you ant take for face value would make anything that you could take for face value?
logicaly thinking..you wouldnt.
but then there comes the grey area. people don't like art that they can't define. but who says art needs a defination? nobody. like shrek said. 'LAYERS Donkey!" just like the onion he was talking about, miyavi's work has many layers. theres what it is literally saying, what he means, and what we inerpret it to mean. now, we may not know exactly what he means, but thats the beauty of it. music is what we make it to be. we all love meev for different reasons.
and this is what makes us awesome
but saying that you shouldnt analyze something is just putting limitations on yourself. there is so much in anything miyavi does. even pop is dead. i kno SHOCK. you thought that was jus a bunch of garbage didnt you? well its not. if you really look at the lyrics you can find a lot of things. like the fact that he says Save me Popeye. now, we all think of our spinach eating hero..whcih makes 0 sence. but what about the eye of the pop industry? the one that is apperently dead. the one that makes you conform to fit in. the one meeve is trying to avoid. yet, he wishes it to save him..but from what? see. this is what i'm talking about. L-A-Y-E-R-S.
and whats all hte bashing of itoshii hito? that happens to be so amazing it breaks my heart.
but the problem i have is that you all think ther is one meaning. there is not. there is no wrong in art. there may be what miayvi was thnking when he made it but thats what he takes out of the expirance. what we take out may be totally different. adn there is NOTHING wrong witht hat. thats the whole freaking point. its ther to make you think. to evoke feelings. and in that video..he accompishes that. with flying colors.

all im trying to say here is stop the hating. just realize that nobody is wrong or write and respect eachother. thats why i havent been around in so long. theres no respect amoung fangirls and i hate it. people have different opinions and views of situations. deal.with.it.
and its art people. its not meant to be right or wrong. its meant to be felt. and thought about.
and i know this is comming from a perso who has made art their life..but i did it for thoes reasns. because it would allow me to think,, to evoke, and to say what i needed to. i think its the same for miyavi. he just wants to get his message out there. but. hat message can be interperted in the details. however, the bigger things tend to be the same. i bet if you asked eacother what it made you feel initially...first thoughts and why..youd find that there is a similar meaning. go with that. becauase thats where the answers lie. in the simplicity. ...sometimes...it just takes a bit to get back to the simple things.

...but thats just my opinion.

That's kind of what I was saying -- except just with more detail. People [not necessarily meant towards this topic...just...IN GENERAL] need to stop thinking on a 2D level and realize that there are other dimensions.

I agree, totally about what was saying before on interpretations, I think same way as you darknoonthirty, I think you said it very well!!! And I can say, with the point of an artist and daughter of a good painter and sculptor, that artist, if they do music, films, paintings or whatever always amke sense and symbols in there art, even if we know that poeple will not feel the same or understand the same about it. Poeple will never know exactly what you wanted to say, but feal emotions and understand things about there life, and think about. i thing it's really a good thing, I'm always very glad when poeple tell me what they understand in my paintings, it's never the same, but for me it's great that it's not, and I'm happy that they feel something! Maybe it could be the same when you do music!
And yes there is a lot of others dimensions, I think that everyone build his own world and understand things about his own vision, and that's great!!!
For me, hitoshii hito make me feeling a bit sad and draming, I love it. I really like Myv because we can undrstand many different things. And you change your visions, now that I've been in Japan, I don't feel the same with Myv, it's better than ever!!!! (sorry if I was a bit annoying )

well, the thing about analyzing videos... the thing that meg/DNT said impressed me a lot and i think shes totally right! its a piece of art and art can be described/felt in 1billion ways but i mean the artist wants you to THINK "hmm what could the message be?" or something like that and the video doesnt always have to do with the songtext but still... video = message = THINK!

me... i think that... well i dont know.. itoshii hito is one of my fav. (as you might have realized xD) songs EVER. i listen to it every night when i go to sleep. and it makes me thing. about love, pain and all that. you dont have to know japanese to understand this song. it just speaks for it self because its such an passionated song. when i first heard it i thought it must be about love and all that..... and when i saw the translation i was like "wow... thats just.... wow" i was speachless because i kinda understood what "happened" in the song without speaking japanese at all. i was so touched by the song because i was in a very... umm... in a bad situation with by boyfriend. i just felt like he doesnt care for me anymore and things like that...and thinking of the words that miyavi said in the song just kind of fitted.

For the vid I tought about a mother diying just afte her baby was born. For me when he floats it's that she is dead. This song always make me sad, but i love it....

Ahh Miyavi! That dude seriously needs to stop avoiding it...and tells us more about the band!! Everytime I see he has another post I wonder if its about the band and what not! :p
 
I acctually love the passion and enthusiasum you guys all have! for miyavi and all of the things hes produced in general! The way you talk about his lyrics and the way you interupt them and how they make feel is quite is lovely!!
