hey guys, entrance exam is coming!
two professors from the same department contacted me and said they have been assigned to give me entrance exam.
Format is they will send me essay questions (separately), then wait for my reply within two hours...
is anyone facing the same situation?

if i pass the exam, i can skip the research student phase and start my master course immediately in this coming april, but if i fail, then i will still be accepted as a research student..
now i m so stressed
they just say will give me 6 essay questions related to life science (my major), then i have to reply with answers within 2 hours by email. omg how am i going to prepare for this exam? no scope at all

I have not received any information regarding university placement as well as departure date yet. I am still waiting here in Cambodia. In Cambodia, most of my friends already got information about dorms and most of them already booked the dorm. Apart from them, I dont receive any information about booking the dormitory yet. I am so worried. Why Information is so late? and Why some students get information about dorm while me not ?

The relationship between me and my team in Japan is not only about studying
I'm thinking about working as a full-time researcher in Japan after I finish my PHD (fingers crossed!)
That's why I'm willing to spend the first year as a research student to have enough time for building my academic experience as I want to publish at least 3 papers in some respected journals before finishing my Master course
We are on the same wave length, I would like to do my very best in the research. I guess this one of entering the master course after arriving to Japan depends on the program and your university you want to enroll. Good luck guys!Huh!

It's not that hard. I guess you would invite some of the best biology or senior graduate students sitting with you for 2 hrs and to help you do better in the exam. I had to pass the entrance exam given by the department that I wanted to enter into when applying to Tokyo Uni. However, mine was done before getting the LoA from the school. My major is also Life Sciences and I had to answer about 5 - 6 questions as well (essay style). Most of the questions are open-ended and test more of your application than content. E.g. How you apply certain life science technologies/ concepts to your country's situation.

I still havnt heard anything from the local embassy about the final final results, they said they will inform me middle of feb but havnt heard today.
I heard from university and they have submitted an application for student residence. So I am optimistic, but I am also not gonna quit my job before I got a final letter from the embassy stating I have received the scholarship.
Only bad thing is I have to give a month notice at my job, and the semester starts 4th april. Time is running out.
Either way, good luck to all! Hope to meet many of fellow students in Japan!

info for Departure Date and University Allocation
Yesterday I have contacted the Japanese Embassy in Cambodia. The guide at the Embassy told me to wait a few more week for detail information about University Allocation and Departure Date. It is extremely late that we have to wait for a few more weeks cos April is coming soon. Currently, I have not told my boss that I will resign from work yet cos I just want to make sure that I 100 % pass. By then I will submit Resignation Paper later. Anyhow, feel very disappointed that we have to wait nearly half a year already. It is really wracked inside the feeling.

hey guys! i just received an email from embassy said that i m finally selected by mext! now they r preparing official letter to us which include uni allocation and departure month.
I am so happy!! but a bit confused about the departure month part, what if now i submit my resignation letter then in the letter said i can only depart in october???

Dont worrry. Usually, we can stop working within one month period. That is the maximum time that most company requires with most staffs. Which University are you going to? I hope to get such information soon too. But guide at embassy told me to wait for a few weeks more. It is so late. Oh have you booked dorm already?
oh..congratulate! Why Japanese Embassy in my country is so late in receiving final notice from MEXT while most Japanese Embassies in the Local Countries already got a notice from MEXT for the final placement.Indonesian's Japan Embassy told us that the official notice from MEXT has arrived. I got placed at Hiroshima University
From what I've read only 2 embassies have got confirmations:
Malaysia
Indonesia
I'm hoping to hear either today or tomorrow. Hopefully there won't have been any problems.

I've got confirmation today from the consulate. And a few days before got e-mail from the university about the admission and information concerning arrival and accommodation. Finally i feel relieved...

Hey guys, first post here in the forum. Here in Brazil we haven't heard of anything yet from the consulates, and as far as I know, not everyone has been contacted officially by the universities about dorms or else.
In spite of that, I strongly believe that the final result will be finally released for us next week. Just a hunch, though.
