Besides, it would be nice to have a nice vacation of sorts before immersing myself in the world of grad school. I hear its scary out there.
 
If Todai is the last of the universities of preference, I would imagine that MEXT is now looking for Universities for the remaining applicants. (if they haven't already)
I wonder if anyone of the people who's embassy has told them that they would receive the result in December, has been brave enough to contact them? It will probably be around another week or two weeks, but you never know.

Gilmwa, I do have a friend in Malaysia who has gotten LoA from Nagoya, but yet to receive any notification from prof. So, don't worry too much first.

Bimbim, maybe what arap said was right. They might be putting u to another Uni. In fact, I wish that they will place me to another Uni (My first choice, Wasedaﾂ）but i failed to get the LoA. Was really sad for months.

Dalmation, u're applying Tsukuba also rightﾂ？ Which Fac ?

COngrats to everyone that got this "un-official" confirmation

I wanted to also share that I got a very similar email from the professor I (hope) will be studying with on Dec 12th about confirming my arrival in April 2010 and taking the Jap language course.

I was contacted by my first choice professor (Kobe U, GSICS)

Just wanted to point out that despite our different backrounds (country, gender, age?, culture, or even religion!?) we have the same concerns and are lookinf forward for the same outcome.

It feels really nice!

Again, congrats to everyone that got this first answer, and fot the ones that didn´t just send a really big support wish because all of us are on the same road.

About the plane tickets I was informed that the dates for the are already preset when you receive them from Japan (trough the Embassy)

Em ở Hà Nội, dự thi MEXT đại học . Anh Bimbim có biết chính xác ngày nào hay tuần nào thì thông báo về đến Đại sứ quán của nước mình không? Liệu là tháng 12 hay là tháng 1 năm sau anh nhỉ? Em cảm ơn anh và chúc anh thành công.

Is this the silence before the storm? With Christmas around the corner, I doubt I will hear anything from my embassy. I guess there is nothing else I can do but wait until January.

Got some news that our embassy will tell us, hopefully, in January 10

One of my friend...well...one of my friend's mother to be exact, just called the embassy today asked about the announcement and she told me that the embassy will announce it in January 10...so for the meantime there are no news regarding the graduate scholarship

'Graduate scholarship'? Means that ... it's undergraduate scholarship that will be announced on January 10?

On the contrary...my guess is in the mean time...or right now the undergraduate maybe already can get the announcement but for graduate ones..it will be on January 10

Anyway forgive my words..what I want to say is perhaps our official announcement will be on January 10

Thanks for the news . Now I feel anxious again, lol. 10th january is also going to be the day when my company's project is going to be launched xD

I was also told by the embassy and also my uni to wait till beginning of January when the final and official approval from MEXT would arrive.
Anyway, to all of you that are concerned with Christmas:
