@SOLDIER1st
I am also going to Toudai (well.. that's the plan..). I am wondering if Toudai hasn't received any notifications yet from MEXT?
Relax, in fact MEXT doesn't have any deadline, apart from the February one, so there is no need to worry until next year. It is a given that Todai is going to be 'overbooked', so it is logical that it will take a while.OMG, this is so nerve-wracking.. If that form needs to be filled up before next Monday, why no news from my professor yet...?
Congrats Mallika!

It may be, but I wouldn't give much thought to it. It's still quite early to get final decision. Although many of the ppl here received a reply from their professors, I'm sure the embassy will contact them to make things official and that will take a couple of weeks. What I mean is: don't get discouraged!!the same goes to all the people who haven't received any news yet.
The staff at the embassy in my country told me I would be receiving an answer by the end of december or the firsts days of january: We'll just have to be patient and avoid thinking on crazy stories about us not getting the scholarship.
I think is highly unlikely (it is still possible tough) that anyone with a LoA will get rejected. The worst thing that could happen is getting to another University. Tokyo is a very demanded location for foreign students, and as such, most of the applications submitted are for a University in the city. It's fairly logical to think that people heading for Tokyo would be the last to be notified...
Ganbatte minna!!
I emailed my professor to touch base this week. I received a reply pretty quickly, and he said "I look forward to seeing you in Japan soon", but there was no word on the official progress. So things are still looking positive, but I haven't been asked yet if I want to do language study or not.If you don't mind can you answer this question below :
1) Did you only send your e-mail to the Professor which listed in your first choice (for applicants who actually choose more than one Uni and of course for the one who actually emailed their Professor) ?
2) Where is the location of the Uni you guys applied for ?

CMIIW on me with this but actually I knew Nyfa and Soldier1st was going for Toudai, Dalmatian and maybe Pasta Tsukuba, but for others ? gilmwa, coco68 ?
Does anyone know what dates we would be leaving? I know it is around the first week of April, but I have to let my job know in February so I wish I knew exactly when!
Indeed, I reread the announcement it said so, but logistics wise it might be more logical that they give you some time to settle in. If you fly to Tokyo on April 1st and you have to study at say Kagoshima University, that means that you will arrive there in the evening and the next morning your course starts? If you want to travel for free, I always assume that the departure date is already fixed for just one certain day instead one weeks, which is April 1st, CMIIW
Yes, I do agree about the importance of settle in, even as a research student, I still think that some times to settle in is never bad.Indeed, I reread the announcement it said so, but logistics wise it might be more logical that they give you some time to settle in. SecondedI'll try to do this myself, but if someone could inquire about this with someone who already received the scholarship, it would be quite helpful.
Well for me both of my choices are from Toudai and I haven't heard a single word from them or from MEXT. I think people are right, decisions about Tokyo will be made in the end. Btw have anyone going to Keio or Waseda got any reply? Looks like we all are in the same boat.@Nyfa and Rica
Thanks for answering my question,
So far the Kanto region assumption still working.

I hate to say this and maybe make people unnecessarily worried, but...
If you read the other thread on this forum about the scholarships, I think two people from the same Kanto university got the training course or not question confirmation heads up thing.
