MEXT Scholarship for Postgraduate 2010: General Discussions.

If I don't confuse the Heads up definition, I think those credit should go to Nyfa

Haha, no problem guys . I think we are all happy for you!

Btw, my professor replied that he hasn't heard anything yet from MEXT.. Is it possible for PhD candidates to be announced earlier than Master one..? Since all of you who are already getting the news are all PhD candidates...?

It seems my professor got contacted today with the same question.(He already knew I would take the language course)
He said today, so for the people who haven't heard anything yet, I wouldn't despair. Depending on the university or the country or the individual case, it might be earlier or later.

Thank you guys for all the support so far. Reading this thread has helped me keep sane throughout the long waiting period.

Sorry for the double post, the editing doesn't work.

@nyfa: I'm not Phd student

But like I said in the post before, you may hear tomorrow or the day after or next week, don't worry.

@Scalemx

Congrats! . Btw, I got confused with your words.. so your professor was notified by MEXT just today?

@Scalemx

Which university you are going to? I think I'll just wait, since my professor said that he's going to inform me once he got the news.. this is really frustrating..*sigh* :'(

I should be studying at kyudai next year.

It was where I found all the support I need for my research, as well as the circumstances and the environment under which it would be best for me to study in Japan.

Congrats Scalemx !!

It's good to have people congrats you but to actually congrats each other is much much better !!

I really hope more and more good news will show up here

I am just wondering, if one of the cases is because of the university.. is there anyone that already got a word from Toudai or Titech?

It was so nerve wrecking this afternoon..somemore from hiroshima university (the uni im applying to) called my home to ask regarding the scholarships.unfortunately i was working and my mum picked up the call...they were asking me to reply an urgent email which was send yesterday which unfortunately im not aware of until their call..luckily i manage to email the international office for them to resend the email..the person in charge even call me the second time just to confirm that ive received it this time...it was sooo nice of her and cant express how grateful i am for tht

anyway the email is to ask me my preference month of arrival in japan and as the previous forummers mentioned, whether i need the 6 months language training...well guess receiving this email means im on the right track riteof going there..have been keeping my fingers crossed for the past few months and really hope it will work up for the best in the end...

hi all,

congratz for everybody who received the great indicators.. (arap, neoxtremex, scalemx, kellylen) ^o^/

Actually if my memory served, dalmatian will be going to or maybe already in Japan right now.

So if you get a go from your Professor, you have a chance to actually survey your soon to be study place (If you don't have a hectic schedule that is)

@NeoXtremeX: I have sent email to my professor, but have not received any reply yet... >.<

@arap: yup, I will return home before the end of this month. Yes, too bad that the work is quite hectic here..

You know as Scalemx said each of us maybe had different schedule depend on the Uni, which probably lead to another assumption that perhaps for Uni located in Tokyo will be informed later because ..I don't know...mabe because there are so many people who will be going to Tokyo ? Well actually I read those data before, CMIIW that most of foreign student reside in Tokyo (50 % or something...I forgot).

I only guess this because as I remembered Nyfa and Dalmatian had their first choice in Toudai, again CMIIW

@arap
Thank you for the encouragement . I hope that is the case.. I am already scared here cause more and more people getting news while I am still stuck.. Is this the sign of not being accepted by MEXT?

Actually, dalmatian's first choice is Tsukuba Uni .

Btw, CONGRATS kellylen!

Oh actually I was wrong a bit about data..I browsed through

50 % foreign student resides in Kanto...those 50 % in number are around 61.000 people which around 42.000 of them reside in Tokyo, it was May 1st, 2008 data actually well compared with the 2007 data these numbers are increasing.

Amazing isn't it Tokyo....

I didn't state that; I suggested it. I have no idea if it is per individual case or country or university or just random I just made that suggestion, because (can't remember the thread, two people from Keio Uni got the request at virtually the same time)

I hope that is the case. I am already scared here because more and more people are getting news while I am still stuck. Is this the sign of not being accepted by MEXT?
I think that if your supervisor isn't contacted (It might still happen in the next couple of weeks), there is probably still a bigger chance of you being replaced to another Uni, rather than not being accepted.

Arap is right. The forms we all had to fill out did say that Kanto and Kansai students had the highest chances of being placed somewhere else, since these regions are the most popular.
The total amount of foreign students in a region however, is not necessarily directly connected with the amount of students with a MEXT scholarship in that region. So be careful with using these statistics.

This may be interesting to you guys,

Ekoy and I are going to the exact same school and university, and we seem to have gotten the reply from MEXT at around the same time. We will go the Osaka School of International Public Policy at Osaka University.

The reply from MEXT as in: your embassy contacted you?
Or as in: your supervisor had to fill out forms and give the decision if you will take a language course or not?

Should I email the administration office then? *is confused*

Yes I were aware of that, I did write foreign student but thank you.

Well then again as you said it was just suggestion of you could even say a hunch...because till now, everyone who did receive heads up were the one who were placed outside Kanto region.

Oh that was nice...congrats then to ekoy..don't tell me you guys had the same Professor as well

Same here...he had to fill out forms about language course

Nyfa, I don't think it is necessary, you already did email your Professor didn't you ?

Sorry maybe I kinda arrogant saying this...I knew if I were in your position, I maybe did the same thing

But I still convince that you will be accepted, it just only matter of time
