MEXT Scholarship 2012

Congratulations for all the accepted candidates from Philipines! It seems that South Asia countries (India and Bangladesh) have not received the announcement yet.
 
I actually have no idea about this process of informing-the-candidates. Last year, undergraduates were informed around 23rd Dec; were also told about their universities for preparatory year, along with some pledge to be filled in.
 
I was again reading the 2011 thread and was shocked to find that 2 people who were candidates were dropped in FEB!! I wonder when we are going to be very sure! LOL.

Either way I'm happy for us who have got it and hope that the other countries get the results!
 
Hi everyone, I'm so glad I found this forum!!!! Congrats to all those who have been notified of their final selection. I'm also a nominee and I'm anxiously waiting to hear the good news from Tokyo. Does anyone have any information on when applicants from Nigeria get notified. Any response will be highly appreciated. Thanks

Probably one of those was me hehe, i ve been out around first days of March !!
 
Congrats to everyone who passed, and I wish the best for everyone still waiting!

I've passed second screening as an undergraduate, and I don't really know what to expect from the scholarship yet.
I know that there aren't many undergrad applicants and there isn't much information regarding being an undergrad, so the few of us undergrads can share what we know about the scholarships.

Hang in there everyone! Just a few more days and we'll all be able to breathe a sigh of relief.
 
Uruwa! Congratulations! Do you know how many of you passed this year? Last year there were only 2 undergrads from the Phils. COngrats! I'm sure you're very smart. Are you from UP? Can I ask what major you are taking?

called embassy, got to know that we have to wait till march. did it meant that the final confirmation here will be announced in march??

He meant that the final placement details (including visa formalities) will be released during mid-march. When I asked him, emphasizing, about secondary screening he said, "I've no information about it yet."

yah, that's what he told me too. he has no info yet. may be we have to wait little more.
 

Oh I'm in the research category. I'm friends with the past undergraduate scholars (past 3 years) and I'm very sure we'll be meeting up because of that LOL. One was a summa cum laude, and another was a whiz kid who got accelerated many times ) That's why I'm curious how many undergrads passed this year. Last year there were 2, then 1 each both years before that. Again, congratulations.

Anyway, it seems that no other countries are updating the thread now? LOL I wonder when my university will email me?
 
Hi...al. I got the confirmation yesterday over the phone from the embassy here. I submitted only one LOA and so i think they have confirmed my acceptance at Todai as well. Wish the other people will hear it soon as well.
 
Got a "provisional" confirmation from embassy today. Final confirmation will be announced in Feb.
 
hey I'm waiting for mine too! Apparently the announcement is going to be on January, I'm like mad over this right now. I've been to a vet school and now waiting to get into a med school. Sheesh, if I'm getting this its going to be another 7 years to my degree!

To answer your questions:

My notification stated that the only pending factor is official acceptance by a university in Japan. Good thing I have those ﾂ"Letters of Acceptanceﾂ" already. It seems just a technicality at this point. I'm applying to the Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies at Waseda University. Anyone else?

I actually have some questions too.

Does anyone know how the deal with the dorms works? Do we stay at a particular dorm and then move when our language study finishes? I'd like to move in with my girlfriend as soon as possible, and don't want to get stuck with a year dorm lease from April.

When I read your post I couldn't believe it...
I'm basically... you !! I applied for the same program at Waseda University and I'm also concerned about the dorm issue since I also want to move in with my boyfriend as soon as possible...

I'm sorry I can't answer any of your questions, but at least you are not alone with your concerns If you hear anything from Waseda please let me know XD.
 
Don't worry, no one will force you to stay in the dorm. Dorms are highly sought after and quickly filled up.

I am a newbie here.

Did you guys all submit the application just closed in November?

I submitted one for graduate school @ Kyushu Uni but I still confused if I did the right thing because I didn't go with Embassy Recommandation. I apply directly to Kyuishu Uni and they acknowledged my application.

I will see how it goes...
 
Application for entrance with Monbukagakusho? November is very late, i did it through embassy, but maybe if you just applied it may be for 2013. We all applied around june.
 

This thread mainly discusses Monbukagakusho scholarship through Embassy Recommendation, whose procedure and deadline is totally different from University Recommendation that you are applying. I suggest you to read this thread: MEXT Scholarship through University Recommendation for more information.
 
What gives you more of a chance? University recommendation or Embassy - i hope its Embassy.
 
University Recommendation has better chance to be accepted. You don't need to deal with embassy, just between MEXT and university.
