MEXT Scholarship 2012

Yeah, it is! We deal with some very serious art making processes . Anyway, I can't wait till the application date. X) I'm really looking forward to studying design in Japan, but there are a few things which are bothering me. I'm really interested in attending this university called Musashino Art University, but it is a private university. So I'm worried that I won't be accepted and permitted to enroll into that university. I think, if I recieve the scholarship, they will place me in the Tokyo University of the Arts, which is the only national art university. But I don't want THAT UNI..... ..... grrrrrr... I really lack information. Next week I will be emailing the uni asking whether I can enroll under mext, even though it's a private uni. They didn't state anywhere that you can enroll into a national university ONLY.. .. ☝
 
So, mail the university a.s.a.p. and, I recommend you to enter the "Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship Applicants" group @ facebook, so that you can find people who are also trying the scholarship for 2013 (maybe, even for arts \o/). But, I think you can choose a private university in MEXT choices ☝
 
Oh, I will, as soon as possible. I will also cantact a professor in the uni, becasue I have heard that it's a good way to get involved. Anyways, thank you for letting me know there is a group, I will certainly post some questions there. I wasn't sure about the private universities, because Japanese Government is in charge of Mext, and doesn't have anything to do with private universities. That is just what I'm guessing. But maybe I'm wrong, I hope I am.. Do you know anyone who has entered a private university under mext undergrad scholarship?

Hello everyone, i knew just today that there was such a good forum to discuss...I am from nepal..have got LOA from Univ. ofTokyo, School of Engineering (froma prof at JAXA), another from Univ of Tokyo, Grad School of information science and technology, Kyoto Univ (aero - astro) and two profs from Tokyo Tech. however i did not send the LOA from Kyoto univ to the embassy as the medium of instruction and examinations there was Japanese (in the other 4 it is English, which i am comfortable with)... The waiting is so long and it indeed is difficult....at Jap. embassy they say..its 99.9 % sure that you get the univ.of ur first choice (virtually all of the earlier candidates have their 1st choice) and they also say that till date nobody has been rejected in the second screening conducteb by the MEXT....
yet i am having my fingers crossed....( i sent 4 choices as the embassy lady insisted me to send it). Hope to get into Univ of Tokyo..(plus point is its a national univ)....how abt u guys..
hope to see some of u guys in april

No, i did it only after i got my nomination letter from the embassy (the certificate for passing the first screening here t the embassy)

if you're referring to me, I haven't applied yet but will do so next year. Hopefully at Waseda for International relations.
 
Great to know that u are also accepted at the University of Tokyo.
I din have the luck like you of getting multiple LOA's from some great universities. I got my only LOA from a prof. in the school of engineering @ University of Tokyo who currently working in a govt. funded cancer project.btw, my field is biomedical engineering.

When do applications start?
Lets imagine I could go to japan in October 2012. And let's imagine it was a japanese language major. Could I stay in japan like studying in a japanese language school until april (beggining of the new semester) or could I start attending to classes right away?

I'm so lost! I've been so busy lately than whever I try to do research on this I end up failing because I' m so tired.

The embassy told me there was going to start a japanese studies (I want to major in japanese and then in some other field )scholarship in the beggining of 2012, but I want other options too.

I sent an email to the embassy but they knew nothing either related to monbukagakusho or to that japanese studies scholarship.
 
Hi guys! Does anybody knows any update about the scholarship process?
I am a little bit worried, I applied and got selected last year but I was out last april because of the budget cut thing, luckly I managed to get selected again this year so im still awaiting for the final answer.
In my country these news always arrive a bit late so i wanted to know how is it going in other countries.

I think that at least most of us know nothing at all so far.

According to the information I got from my local embassy a couple of months ago, we are supposed to get a first "99.9% confirmation" from them at mid-late December, and then the 100% confirmation from the Japanese Ministry of Education around January-February.

On the positive side, as you can read on this forum, this year there has not been a budget cut, and most embassies selected fewer candidates than last year.

There is nothing sure, but conditions seem better

Your situation is similar to my. I was also cut down last year. But the good news are that
they would not do that to you twice. Unless they really hate You and have you voodoo puppet for torturing You Especially because they cut you in April...
Last Year I got my preliminary results on December 15th sharp. So its just 42 more days to wait, lets be patient and ﾅ?ﾃｦ窶卍｣窶堙ｨ窶堙懌?堋ｵ窶堙･窶堋､ﾂ！

This is my 5th attempt to catch the scholarship. The first 2 tries no result, 3th I got as substitute candidate and 4th finally made it haha but things did not go well back then and was out. I felt destroyed.
This year my embassy gave less scholarships spots, usually they were 9 candidates and this year only 6, fortunately I managed to get in a better position around those 6 .... but you know sometimes I get that feeling (voodoo puppet feeling), probably because of my past experiences. Vitually I have a master and a doctoral degree on these application process lol.
What about you guys? and by the way what program are you applying? I am going for Architectural master program at the University of Tsukuba.
 
Colleagues, then. I am also an architect. When I searched for possible Universities I remember that I couldn't find Architecture on Tsukuba. Was it just in Japanese or it has different name? I have been accepted by Mie Daigaku. I want to learn more about, what I call, "modular dynamic house". Maybe we could exchange study proposals over pm... just to kill the time (rather then letting time to kill us )

As for that feeling when rejected... I cannot even imagine to be rejected in April, just few days before departure... I got rejected in December due to the budget cut as they told me. And I felt destroyed after waiting for just few months (August to December). But waiting another 4 months to be told "sorry, world economic crises, you know..." You sure do have a patience.
Anyway, by my opinion, If they don't want us to go they would have cut us after the interview stage. We also saw document that says that there is no budget cut this year, so, as time passes I am getting more and more confident about the final selection
 
Another month to go! I reckon that this thread will become more crowded as the announcement date is coming nearer and nearer .

I will apply for the Economics and Management Master graduate program with LoA from Tohoku and Nagoya University. I consider myself lucky to have come this far since this is my first attempt at applying for this scholarship

I'm the same as you FryLai... I feel real lucky that I got to this point of the process on my first attempt.

When I found out about the budget for this year I felt more positive about everything... But the closer December is the longer the days are becoming for me...

I know that I should not put my life in stand by waiting for the answer from MEXT... but I'm kinda doing it nevertheless... I keep on with my daily routine but my subconscious insists on thinking about the hole thing again and again.

I guess that now we can only keep our fingers crossed for a little longer.
 

lol the same thing happen to me last year.
I tried my best to forget about it, at least until late december. However it is inevitable for me to get this things out of my mind.
now i'm repeating the same cycle, but ofcourse the difference is now i could focus on something more useful

i think most of monbusho applicants will do the same as you. we're on the final stage anyway
 
Definitely agree with samuro. We have done our best during screening process and we are no longer be able to influence the outcome of the process. Forcing ourselves not to think about it is like lying to ourselves (next to impossible to do), we just need to be careful not to over-think it and let it disrupts our daily lives.

At least by sharing info and opinion in this forum, I am able to let that steam out a bit and remind myself that there are other hundred/thousands people who are undergoing the same process. We are not alone

well, at least RS applicants will most likely hear their results earlier than me (college of technology applicant)
some people i know even received their result in early to mid December (RS applicant)
while for college of technology, late December maybe is the fastest.
I can't wait to finish my study this term, get back to my hometown, and hear the result of secondary screening
 
Last night I had a dream that it was december 14 and everyone was getting calls....lol i can't believe I dream about the scholarship now! Okay so I think I'll try studying for
the jlpt this december then....
 
C'mon everybody! ! Only one month left (or maybe less) to get an answer! ! !

もう少し頑張りましょう！
