I don't have much solid information on this guy. Taking some information from a Japanese auction site (which may not be very credible), it says he was a late Edo era smith, working in the Echigo area.
Its slightly unusual to find so little information on a swordsmith (especially in late Edo). So he must have been a very obscure smith.

True, it is very strange because I didn't find anything about it in my book too. As I searched more, I found a samurai Michinao much before Edo. Maybe it was made in town Hokusei for this one samurai? I don't know but I keep going.
