Meaning of しといたんだけんど

Hi guys I was wondering if I could have some help with the following line.
It is a line from the movie となりのトトロ。

Obaachan is talking she says..
はい、こんにちは。かしこそうな子だよ。こんなに急ぎ でなきゃ家の手入れもしといたんだけど

And later it appears similarly again in

今時分は田んぼが忙しくってふでも時々そうじはしとい たんだ

I get the feeling that it's close to the English "would have".

The first line is something like,
Hello, what cleaver children. If I knew you were in such a hurry I would have tended to the house.

And the second

Around this time the rice fields are very busy. I would have spent time to clean. ( I'm not sure what ふでも is maybe brush)

Not ふでも but んでも. It's a dialectal expression of それでも.

Your interpretation is correct in the first sentence, since it's しといたんだけど (急ぎでなきゃ家の手入れもしといたんだけど、実際は急ぎだったからできなかった). However, she said she really did clean the house in the second line. Notice that it's just 掃除はしといたんだ without けど.

しといた is the contraction of しておいた, meaning "did previously for a purpose".

Just one last thing in the movie satsukisan says

ススわたりって困難でざわざわ動くもの

How is 困難で used here!

Is it like.... Susuwatari? Are they those moving things that make a distressing noise?

Even though she was busy, she sometimes did cleaning the house.

こんなん is a colloquial form of こんなの, not 困難. If you read it somewhere, it MUST be written in hiragana. If you heard it in the movie, you should be aware of the difference in pitch accent between the two words.

How should one translate the last clause

"If it wasnt for such a hurry, I would have done something about the house (refering to repair, cleaning or something)"?

Is this けど the same as のに? (not as an adversative particle though)

Yes, けど/けれど/けれども is for adversative conjuntion. のに has a nuance of "complaint" (something like "due to your coming here too soon, I can't take care of this house") so she used けど here.
