this mainly applys to natives of tokyo or japan in general but anyone else is welcome to leave whatever they like if its japanese related.basically i want to know everything lol im going next year and i want to get the best out of my time and have the trip of a life time that ive always dreamed of anyway enough about me.nightlife,good bars,tourist attractions modern and historical,customs and so on and so fourth absolutely anything even what to avoid and what not to do all info welcome.

Do as the above poster suggested and make a list of priorities for yourself FIRST. Then do a search on here and other forums for topics that relate to those priorities you listed. I say this because there is a wealth of information out there for you to discover for yourself in order to "to get the best out of my time and have the trip of a life time that ive always dreamed of"

okay cheers guys right now im only planning a 2 week stay but if i can muster up more cash as long as i possibly can.

more than anything im a bit of a gaming geek at heart so anyone know of some good places for the likes of final fantasy and resident evil bits and bobs im already planning on visiting the sony building and square-enix.ill post the next thing on my itinerary when i get a few replys for this.

You are going next year, so I think you have plenty of time to get money. Yes, Japan is expensive, but if you use some common sense, you will be able to save money.

Do a lot of research here on the forum and I've heard Akihabara district in Tokyo is Otaku heaven.

I think Harajuku and Akihabara (in Tokyo) are enjoyable.

I don't know so much about Akihabara, but my friend said there are lot of game center(do you know this?) to enjoy games. You can stay there till the midnight, if you want to. And so many kinds of game, robot,computer shops.

I often see people in several Game costume at Harajuku. I think Harajuku is a town for all the young people though there is always crowded.
I often go there with my friend just to walk around. There are so many kind of people wearing various kinds of clothes they like. And several kind of cheap shops.

The historic building and Shinto shrine which are near to Tokyo.
Kamakura
In 1192, a samurai organized the BAKUFU in Kamakura first.
It is around 55 minutes by a train from Tokyo Station.
