Looking for information on higashidori

I am looking for information higashidori, the aomori preficture. More specifically I am curious if anyone lives there and can just tell me what they think of it. I have a job offer there to teach and am trying to get more info on the area. I am going to google a lot of stuff but I was hoping someone here had first hand experience living there and could share their thoughts about it.

Well according to Wikipedia people live there. Some 7,776 to be exact.

It's in northern Aomori so I would think it is a very cold and snowy city with not much to offer. On the other hand, it must be a pretty good place to learn Japanese with no distractions whatsoever.
