Hello,

I was trying to translate "let's watch this movie tonight" and I was just wondering if both "this movie" and "tonight" can take the "wa" particle.

For example, apart from saying "konban kono eiga o mimashou", can you also say:
Kono eiga wa konban mimashou
Konban wa kono eiga o mimashou

Thanks

Yes, those sentences are both correct. The former one has a nuance of "as for this movie, especially tonight, not another day/time", whereas the latter can emphasize "tonight".

Yeah, both look good. Where you place the wa changes the nuance slightly in terms of stressing this movie (and not others) or the night (not other nights). Not a big deal though.

The usage of "wa" in the first sentence is not common, thus, there must be the speaker's volition to use "wa" instead of "wo". To choose "wa" is not always "a small deal".
