Have you left home yet? If so, when did you leave? If not, when do you intend to leave? Or maybe you have no plans to leave at all.

I stayed at home when I went to university at 18, but moved into a rented house with my boyfriend when I was 20. He worked full time and could support both of us. After a year we got married, and a year after that we bought our own house. We've been here for 10 years.

It seems like nowadays people are staying at home for longer. I would find that very difficult, and would only consider going back to live with my parents under the most exceptional circumstances.

I get on fine with my parents, just the idea of sharing a house and facilities with other adults drives me crazy; I like being able to use the bathroom, washing machine, heating, TV, kitchen etc whenever I want. Having to fit around someone else's routine is not for me! If you still live at home, how do you get along with your parents?

Left home and went into the Navy when I was 17.

Left home when I was 18... I was going to college at first, but my first set of grades werent't all that great -- and though the college was willing to keep working with me on that, my dad (paying the college loan) was not, and made me drop out. So I joined the army.

Found out after graduating Basic training and being 2 weeks away from graduating AIT and almost getting shipped off to Germany that the military was *not* for me, I left on an Honorable (Medical) Discharge. The details are.. involved.

Moved straight into my fiance's apartment (refused to go back home) and got married to him 2 years later. Been married almost 14 years now.

I only began to get along with my parents about 4 years -after- I moved out.

I wouldn't consider living with them again; their lifestyles are too much for me.
I couldn't if I wanted to anyway, since they lived in a retiree complex (or whatever they're called). We had a very bad familial upbringing, but I've forgiven them since then (more "involved" details left out here).

So, there.. a big chunk of my life's "story"...

I'm 22 and still not out, mainly because I'm still in Uni and have no job so if I left I would be pretty screwed. Plus my mum wouldn't like me to leave anyway since that would leave her by herself and yes I know thats something she has to except eventually, but if I'm not in a position to leave then I'm not going to.

21 and still at home. Seattle apartments are expensive as hell. Plus, I'd risk having neighbors that play music really loud. Probably going to move out (and far away; Seattle's weather and traffic suck) shortly after graduating college, and will definitely have to if I get into JET.

And with the economy the way it is, I'm even more glad I saved the money instead of getting an apartment.

I'm always afraid it's going to stunt my maturity in some way, but remind myself that everywhere else in the world it's not weird to live at home in your 20s.
